Jim Corbett National Park

▪️ Oldest NP in India, established in 1936 as Hailey National Park to protect the endangered Bengal Tiger.

▪️ It is located in Nainital district and Pauri Garhwal district of Uttarakhand .

▪️ Named after Jim Corbett, well known hunter

▪️ The park was the first to come under the Project Tiger initiative.

▪️ Ramganga river flows through the National park

▪️ The core area forms the Jim Corbett National Park while the buffer contains reserve forests as well as the Sonanadi Wildlife Sanctuary

▪️ Dudhwa National Park

It is located on the Indo-Nepal border in the Lakhimpur Kheri District utter Pradesh

It is a national park in the Terai belt of marshy grasslands of northern Uttar Pradesh

The main flora comprises sal, asna, shisham, jamun, gular, sehore and bahera. 

Major attractions of Dudhwa National Park are the tigers and swamp deer.

In 1987, the park was declared a tiger reserve and brought under the purview of the ‘Project Tiger’.

Dudhwa National Park is a stronghold of the barasingha. Around half of the world's barasinghas are present in Dudhwa National Park.

🔸Kishanpur Wildlife Sanctuary through which Sharda River flows, and

🔸Katarniaghat Wildlife Sanctuary through which Geruwa River flows.

🔸All of these rivers are tributaries of the Ghaghra River

◾️it is a salt lake bordered by Jordan to the east and Israel and the West Bank to the west. It lies in the Jordan Rift Valley, and its main tributary is the Jordan River.

◾️Basin countries 👉🏻Israel, Jordan ,Palestine

◾️With 34.2% salinity (in 2011), it is one of the world's saltiest bodies of water, though Lake Vanda in Antarctica (35%), Lake Assal in Djibouti (34.8%), Lagoon Garabogazköl in the Caspian Sea (up to 35%) and some hypersaline ponds and lakes of the McMurdo Dry Valleys in Antarctica (such as Don Juan Pond (44%)) have reported higher salinities.

1) Mollem (Mahavir) National Park:

- Located in Sanguem taluk in Goa along the eastern border with Karnataka

- NH 4A and Mormugao to Londa railway line passes through it

- Contains temples of Kadamba dynasty

- River: Mandovi

- Waterfalls: Dudhsagar and Tambdi falls

- Vegetation: West Coast tropical evergreen forests, West Coast semi-evergreen forests and moist deciduous forests

- Fauna: Tiger, Leopard, Barking deer

- Home to Dhangar, nomadic buffalo herders
