Askot Musk Deer Sanctuary


▪️ Askot Musk Deer Sanctuary is located 54 km from Pithoragarh near Askot in Uttarakhand

▪️This sanctuary has been set up primarily with the object of conserving the musk deer (Moschus leucogaster) and its habitat. Intensive efforts have been initiated to conserve this rare species.

▪️ Other mammals found in this sanctuary include the Bengal tiger,[1] Indian leopard, Himalayan jungle cat, civet, barking deer, serow, goral and Himalayan brown bear

▪️ The River Kali forms the international boundary and separates it from Nepal in the east and to the west it is bounded by West Almora Forest Division, to the north by Tibet and the south by Pithoragarh Forest Division.

Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary


▪️ The Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary is an animal sanctuary in Wayanad, and it's second largest wildlife sanctuary in Kerala.

▪️ A variety of large wild animals such as Indian bison, elephant, deer and tiger are found there.

▪️ It is an integral part of the Nilgiri Biosphere Reserve, bounded by protected area network of Nagarhole and Bandipur of Karnataka in the northeast, and on the southeast by Mudumalai of Tamil Nadu.

▪️ Wayanad district has the largest population of Adivasi in Kerala. Scheduled tribes here include Paniyas, Kurumas, Adiyans, Kurichiyas, Ooralis and Kattunaikkans.

▪️ Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary is one of the safest havens for different species of vultures like the White-rumped Vultures and the Red-headed Vultures.

Mudumalai Wildlife Sanctuary

▪️ The Mudumalai National Park and Wildlife Sanctuary also a declared tiger reserve, lies on the northwestern side of the Nilgiri Hills (Blue Mountains), in Nilgiri District, Tamilnadu.

▪️ It shares its boundaries with the states of Karnataka and Kerala and also joins eastern ghats and western Ghats

▪️ The protected area is home to several endangered and vulnerable species including Indian elephant, Bengal tiger, gaur and Indian leopard and including critically endangered Indian white-rumped vulture and long-billed vulture

▪️ Construction activities of the proposed India-based Neutrino Observatory at Singara, Masinagudi, are likely to have significant impacts on the local wildlife.

Tal Chappar Wildlife Sanctuary

▪️ Tal Chhapar Sanctuary is a sanctuary located in the Churu district of Rajasthan.

▪️ It is known for blackbucks and is also home to a variety of birds

▪️ It lies on the passageway of many migratory birds such as harriers, sparrow etc.

▪️The forest of this region falls under major group "Tropical Forest" as per classifications of Indian forests by Champion & Seth

▪️ In the Tal Chhapar Sanctuary, a special type of grass is found. This grass is called Mothiya locally, The shape of the seed of this grass is like very fine round shaped pearls. Mothiya has a very sweet taste. People enjoy eating it

▪️ The Godavari is the largest river system of the Peninsular India and is revered as Dakshina Ganga or Vridha Ganga

▪️The Mahanadi River system is the third largest of peninsular India and the largest river of Odisha state.

▪️Its basin extends over states of Chhattisgarh and Odisha and comparatively smaller portions of Jharkhand, Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh

▪️ The river originates from Sihawa in Chattisgarh and Drains near False point in Odisha, Bay of Bengal

▪️ The Mahanadi was notorious for its devastating floods for much of recorded history. Thus it was called 'the sorrow of Orissa'.

▪️At Sambalpur the Hirakud Dam (one of the largest dams in India) on the river has formed a man-made lake 35 miles (55 km) long.

▪️Puri, at one of its mouths, is a famous pilgrimage site.

▪️Mahanadi basin, because of its rich mineral resource and adequate power resource, has a favorable industrial climate.

▪️It rises in the Brahmagiri range near Cherangala village of Kodagu (Coorg) district of Karnataka and drains into the Bay of Bengal.

▪️It is bounded by Western Ghats, Eastern Ghats and by the ridges separating it from Krishna basin and Pennar basin.

▪️It is the third largest river – after Godavari and Krishna – in South India

▪️the largest river in the State of Tamil Nadu

▪️Cauvery basin extends over states of Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Kerala and UT of Puducherry.

▪️ To Hindus the Narmada is one of the seven holy rivers of India; the other six being Ganges, Yamuna, Godavari, Saraswati, Sindhu, and Kaveri.

▪️There are several islands in the estuary of the Narmada of which Aliabet is the largest
