Drake Passage:
¬ located between
1. Cape Horn: at tip of South America and Antarctic Peninsula.
¬ named after Sir Francis Drake: 1st Englishman to circumnavigate globe.
The Roughest waterways
¬ layers of cold seawater from south and
¬ warm seawater from north
¬ both collide to form powerful "eddies".
¬ Such eddies combine with strong winds, storms = treacherous for those attempting to navigate it.
2019: 6 rovers from 4 countries, crossed Drake Passage
= a new Guinness World Records (GWR).
2018: an all-woman Indian Navy team on INS Tarini also successfully crossed Passage.
