A fierce gunbattle erupted in the early hours of March 18, 2026, along the Indo-Myanmar border in Manipur's Kamjong district, specifically near Border Pillar No. 90.
Time & Location: The exchange of fire began around 5:30 AM in the strategic Kabaw Valley region, situated between the villages of Namli and Minda.
Parties Involved: The confrontation involved Manipur-based armed groups engaging with what are described as "proxy forces" allegedly linked to the Kuki National Army-Burma (KNA-B) and the People's Defence Force (PDF).
Casualties: Initial reports indicate that at least four cadres affiliated with the KNA-B and PDF were killed. The identities of the deceased have not yet been officially confirmed.
Recoveries: Unverified sources suggest that a quantity of arms and ammunition was recovered from the site following the encounter.

In a speech to the 40-member State Assembly, Chief Minister Lalduhoma made the following claims:
Mizoram Chief Minister Lalduhoma stated that intelligence indicated around 2,000 Ukraine war veterans allegedly entered Myanmar via Mizoram between June and December 2024 to train rebel groups in Chin State fighting the military junta.
These foreigners, including some from the US and UK described as mercenaries, reportedly bypassed tourist areas and used the porous Indo-Myanmar border.
Government Response
The Indian central government reimposed Protected Area Permit (PAP) requirements for foreigners in Mizoram to curb such movements, despite local tourism concerns.
This ties into broader security worries along the border, amid ethnic ties between Mizos and Myanmar's Chin community hosting refugees.

The Ceasefire between Afghanistan and Pakistan was announced with the mediation of friendly countries, and the Islamic Emirate’s forces remain committed to it. However, cases of ceasefire violations by Pakistan have been reported along the Hypothetical Durand Line and as a result of these violations, several civilians were martyred even on the first day of Eid. Nevertheless, the Islamic Emirate’s forces have refrained from any retaliatory action in order to prevent further escalation.
