On March 16, 2026, a Delhi Special NIA Court remanded six Ukrainian nationals and one US citizen to 11 days of custody until March 27. Arrested in Delhi, Lucknow, and Kolkata, they are accused of entering India on valid visas before illicitly crossing into Myanmarβs protected areas. The NIA alleges they contacted ethnic armed groups, received and provided combat training, and maintained ties to Indian insurgent outfits. Furthermore, they are accused of smuggling a significant drone consignment into the region from Europe via India. Defense counsel opposed the remand, while the NIA continues investigating these serious transnational security allegations.
