The number of Chinese people living on the island in 1624, prior to Dutch colonial rule, was about 25,000. Over the years, India has consistently topped global annual film output. 🌍 In 2022, the Indian film industry grossed ₹15,000 crore at the box office.
The cinematic landscape is diverse, featuring multilingual and multi-ethnic works. Hindi cinema led with 33% of box office revenue in 2022, followed by Telugu (20%), Tamil (16%), Kannada (8%), and Malayalam (6%). 🎬 Other significant industries include Bengali, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Gujarati, and Bhojpuri. Notably, the combined revenue of South Indian film industries surpassed that of Bollywood in 2022, with Telugu cinema leading the way. 💰
