Protests in Syria

In several villages in the south of the country, Syrians are protesting against Assad's regime in Damascus.

Many protests erupted after Assad abolished fuel subsidies.

The abolition of state subsidies is hitting many Syrians hard, especially because of the country's 12-year civil war and the economic crisis. In the videos, the demonstrators chanted "Freedom" or "Long live Syria, down with Bashar al-Assad. "

The demonstrations were attended in particular by the Druze in Syria, who were usually always on the side of the Syrian Assad family.

Israel’s northern borders and neighbors, Lebanon and Syria, are both in a dangerous economic crisis, which may have repercussions for Israel.

These are the biggest protests in Syria since the civil war erupted in 2011.

Should the uprising become a real threat to the Assad family, there are fears in Jerusalem that Hezbollah will send its militias back to Syria from Lebanon. Whether the Russian troops or Wagner mercenaries will be sent back to Syria is doubtful because of the war in Ukraine.
