A very good article to read. It presents an analysis on the recent report published by the World Bank which has said that inequality (consumption) had declined in India in recent times. I think one point that can be added to this article is that the last few years of welfare expenditure (subsidies) have also helped in reducing the consumption inequality in India. With the rising income, the redistribution of (tax) resources has also led to reduction in consumption inequality.
