Premier League: Man United 1 Crystal Palace 2
Man United: D.James (89')
Crystal Palace: J. Ayew (32'), P. Van Aanholt (90'+3)

Manchester United were beaten by Crystal Palace for the first time in Premier League history as the Eagles ran out 2-1 victors at Old Trafford.

Rashford struck a couple of free-kicks off target and United were clearly in the ascendancy with Palace barely mounting a serious attack. That was until Jeffrey Schlupp outjumped Victor Lindelof to head on for Ayew to run through, unchecked, and roll a simple finish wide of David De Gea for a shock opener.

The one noteworthy effort by the Reds in the closing stages of the opening half was another free-kick, this time taken by Paul Pogba, but with the same result as he shovelled his set-piece over the wall but also over the bar.

Solskjaer introduced Mason Greenwood for Jesse Lingard but the visitors continued to stand firm until McTominay burst into the box to force a penalty in the 69th minute. Greenwood's pass was laid off by Martial and McTominay was tripped to hand the Reds a spot-kick for a third successive match this term.

Rashford, who scored a penalty against Chelsea, stepped up but, despite sending Guaita the wrong way, his shot struck the inside of the keeper's right-hand post, to the utter frustration of the majority at Old Trafford.

However, James looked to have earned a point when he curled home beautifully, after Pogba tackled Zaha and combination play by Martial and Rashford created the opening. It came with a minute of normal time left and should have sparked a late siege on Guaita's goal.

Instead, three minutes into the five that were added on due to the numerous stoppages in play, substitute Christian Benteke tackled Pogba to spark a move that culminated in van Aanholt's drive going through De Gea's defences to hand Palace an unlikely winner.

Manchester United are looking to get back to winning ways against Southampton this Saturday at St. Mary's Stadium after suffering a shock defeat last time out against Crystal Palace.

Jordan Ayew's first-half opener stunned Old Trafford and Palace led until the 89th minute, when Daniel James curled home a late equaliser.

United thought they had snatched a point until Eagles left-back Patrick van Aanholt steered home a 93rd-minute winner to record their first-ever Premier League victory over the Red Devils.

Team News
Luke Shaw's hamstring injury caused a moment of confusion that allowed Crystal Palace to take the lead against the Red Devils at Old Trafford, with Harry Maguire forced out wide to cover before Ashley Young replaced the left-back. Anthony Martial faces similar hamstring injury and both players hopes to be fit in time for United's next match.

Eric Bailly continues to recover from a knee operation that is likely to keep the Ivorian centre-back sidelined until close to Christmas.

Solskjaer has confirmed that Diogo Dalot's absence from the matchday squad thus far has been due to injury and says the defender should be fit again following the international break.

Premier League: Southampton 1 Man United 1
Southampton Scorer: J. Vestergaard (58')
Man United Scorer: D. James (10')

Daniel James got himself on the scoresheet for the third time in four matches, but the day ended in frustrating fashion as Manchester United were forced to settle for a 1-1 draw by 10-man Southampton on Saturday lunchtime.

James opened the scoring after 10 minutes with a sublime effort which flew past Saints goalkeeper Angus Gunn. Jannik Vestegaard equalised just before the hour-mark and despite Kevin Danso seeing red for a second bookable offence with just under 20 minutes remaining, the Reds couldn’t find a winner despite a raft of late chances.

The hosts threatened early on, putting pressure on centre-backs Victor Lindelof and Harry Maguire at every opportunity but it was the Reds who took an early lead.

Scott McTominay did well to not only maintain possession in the middle but to find James in space on the left with an excellent pass. The Wales international cut inside, having used Mata’s clever overlapping run as a decoy, and thundered a fierce shot beyond Angus Gunn to score his third league goal in four appearances.

It took until just before the hour-mark for David De Gea to be tested, the Spaniard saving well from a near-post header from Saints’ first corner of the match. But seconds later Vestegaard nodded home from Boufal’s cross to level for the home side.

With 17 minutes left to play, Danso received his marching orders from referee Mike Dean - a second bookable offence for a late tackle on McTominay after a shirt pull on Pereira in the first half.

The Reds continued to pile on the pressure as Rashford saw his low shot kept out and substitute Mason Greenwood saw his excellent curling effort kept out by Gunn ensuring the points were shared.

Normal service resumed at Manchester United after ousting Leicester City, but the Premier League grind continues. As Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side aims to pick up back-to-back wins for the first time this season, the intimidating West Ham United lie in their path.

The London Stadium won’t be at all sympathetic to their struggles, with Manuel Pellegrini’s side desperate to get back to winning ways themselves. While United did look a much stronger unit keeping a clean-sheet against Leicester, the Hammers attack is a different beast altogether.
