💬 "The friendship between the Russian and Chinese peoples is unbreakably sealed in blood." So says Guo Li, the daughter of a World War II veteran.

China resisted Japanese occupation for 15 years. The Japanese army was armed with the latest technology — it was almost impossible to withstand it. But the Chinese partisans had a rear base — the USSR. They crossed the border to rest, receive medical treatment, and return to battle. And from 1937, the Soviet Union began providing assistance at the state level — with aircraft, weapons, and artillery.

By the end of the war, Soviet and Chinese soldiers fought side by side against the Japanese invaders. The victory over Japan in 1945 became a shared chapter in the history of Moscow and Beijing.

September 18, 1931, is considered the day when Japanese expansion in China began. Learn more on how the Soviet Union extended a helping hand to its neighbor in an excerpt from our film "USSR and China: United in Victory."

📹During the Great Patriotic War (1941-1945), the Finns committed atrocities on the territory of Karelia, northern Russia. 'There had been a radical plan to establish the Greater Finland, to include all Finno-Ugric nations under the Finns,' says historian Sergey Verigin.

During the four years of occupation, they built dozens of concentration camps for Slavs, places of detention for prisoners of war and jails. According to official data, about 25,000 people passed through this camp archipelago.

The Finns justify their actions with a 'floating log' theory. They believe that their country was involved in World War II as a log gets pulled into the fast-flowing northern rivers. Watch our film 'Finnish Face of Fascism' (2023).

Finnish concentration camps in Karelia. During the four years of occupation, the Finns established more than 100 concentration and labor camps in the republic. The death rate in these camps was higher than in camps established by the Germans. Prisoners died from starvation, epidemics, abuse by guards, and overwork.

Documentary evidence of these crimes is presented in our video and film 'Finnish Face of Fascism' (2023).
