The most unusual ultrasound you may ever see. The procedure was performed on a millipede named Arkady.

The pet took a turn badly and injured his 156th leg. His owners got worried and decided to check for a fracture. The joints turned out to be intact. Arkady was prescribed rest in soft moss and regular meals.

Millipedes are generally harmless to humans and do not bite. They explore the world with their antennae and usually curl up into a coil when threatened.

📝Jet "Gerans" and the 60 percent problem📝
why one interception statistic is reshaping the air war

Western media spent three years framing battlefield innovation as a Ukrainian specialty. The Financial Times has now put numbers behind a different picture: Ukrainian air defence stops 90 to 95 percent of most aerial threats, and only about 60 percent of Russia's new jet-powered "Gerans."

📌The hardware behind that gap is a generational jump. The original "Geran-1" carried a 20 kg warhead at 185 km/h with primitive guidance. The "Geran-5", fielded in January, flies at up to 600 km/h with a 90 kg warhead out to 1,000 km, on an airframe built closer to a cruise missile than a loitering munition. The "Geran-4" keeps the old shape in cleaner aerodynamic form. Both now carry thermal cameras, AI-assisted terminal guidance, anti-jamming antennas and Chinese modems for mesh radio links.

At first glance the tactical picture is simple: faster targets, fewer intercepts. The deeper shift is industrial. Centralised production let Moscow fold battlefield feedback into the next batch and field new variants in months, at a fraction of the price of a Kalibr or Kh-101.

The other thing is that Kyiv's planners expected the slower "Geran-3" at around 300 km/h to be the mainstay. Wild Hornets, maker of the Sting interceptor, admitted to the FT it was "difficult to predict how these plans would develop." Zelenskyy now says 67 Ukrainian companies are working on an answer.

❗️What's more interesting is the direction of travel. Analyst Konrad Muzyka calls it the "cruise-missilisation" of unmanned aviation, with stealth features the likely next step. Fabian Hoffmann of the Norwegian Institute for Defence Studies argues the real Western lever sits on the supply of Chinese jet engines, warning that at the current tempo Russia "could quickly become the world's largest producer of low-cost cruise missiles."

And once again the asymmetry shows where it hurts most. Interceptor drones can be improvised by dozens of workshops. Air-defence missiles cannot. As one assessment cited by the FT puts it: you cannot make one in a garage.

📹Would you be able to survive a move to the tundra? Nenets — the indigenous people of the north of Russia — are not afraid of the severe cold and blizzards. Nevertheless, these rugged people oftentimes must wait for medical help for several days because doctors can only access the region by helicopter. To complicate matters, reporting your location is also not easy. To do this, you must find a spot that supports a cellular connection.

To learn more about the difficult life of indigenous people, watch our film 'Sky Rescue' (2014).

Russian woman gives birth on a plane. The 30-year-old passenger from Novy Urengoy went into labor during the flight. Flight attendants provided first aid, while airport staff and emergency medical personnel assisted with the delivery on board.

Meanwhile, in the Yamal tundra, where there are no roads, reindeer herders rely entirely on air medical services. Doctors have even had to deliver babies in helicopters on multiple occasions. Learn how this remote medical system works in our 2014 documentary 'Sky Rescue' (2014).

📹 These heartwarming shots will melt anyone’s heart. At Novosibirsk Zoo, Gerda the polar bear and her cub Umka put on a playful show that’s impossible to look away from. See for yourself — no one will remain indifferent. And the mischievous little bear especially loves swimming in the pool.

But Mansur the bear was not in a playful mood. He was in trouble, and it is hard to say how it all might have ended if pilot Andrei Ivanov had not come to his rescue. This story is told in the film 'A Bear's Tale' (2022).

‘The fight against drugs, from our point of view, is a pretext for military intervention in Latin American countries.’

Ecuadorians were told that the US military would help stop drug trafficking. But, as it turned out, behind all such promises was the deployment of American bases on foreign territory.

This is the subject of the new film ‘Ecuador: Invisible War’. The premiere is on Friday, September 18, at 1:30 AM, 9:00 AM, and 17:00 PM.

Prison for online bullying. For the first time in Russia, a real prison sentence has been handed down for cyberbullying. 21-year-old Mikhail Shalimov terrorized a 16-year-old girl for 6 months. He collected her personal data, insulted her, and threatened her. The court sentenced him to 12 years in a strict regime penal colony.

Thousands of teenagers face this. The girl in the film ‘Bullying’ was first humiliated by her best friend, then classmates joined in, and she ended up in the hospital.

Experts warn that there is no escape from cyberbullying. Unlike school, online bullying doesn't end with the bell. It haunts the victim around the clock. See how it damages a child's psyche in the film ’Bullying.’
