Over 80 years, Mariupol survived two occupations and twice proved that it cannot be destroyed.

The first lasted 700 days, from 1941 to 1943. The Nazis tortured and executed people right in the streets, without trial or investigation.

On September 10, 1943, the Red Army liberated the city. As they retreated, Hitler’s troops burned houses, schools, and hospitals, blew up Azovstal and the Ilyich Plant, and sank the tanker Grozny.

In 2014, history repeated itself: tanks appeared on the same streets, and gunfire rang out. Ukrainian troops destroyed Mariupol as methodically as the fascists once had. But the city, which had survived the first occupation, did not surrender to the second either.

The story of Mariupol’s liberation and revival is told in an excerpt from the film ‘Donbass: Echoes of War’ (2023). The film premiered at the festival ‘RT.Doc: Time of Our Heroes.’

10-years-old Nadia from Bolivia is deprived of a carefree childhood. For two years, the girl has been going to the market to trade after school. She has no other choice, otherwise the family will starve. In this Latin American country many children start working from a young age. They trade on the streets, serve clients in bars, and even extract silver in mines, risking their lives.

In 2014, Bolivia even legalized child labor. 10 years is the minimum age at which children can start working. At the same time, Bolivia’s children’s unions are pushing for the legal working age to be decreased even further.

A 33-foot artwork was printed with a road roller in Krasnoyarsk.

The video shows a linocut. The image is carved into linoleum, covered with ink and transferred onto paper. But here, a road roller was used instead of a regular press. Its creators say it is one of the longest linocuts in Russia.

These fluffy 'camels without humps' are among the oldest domesticated animals in South America. They were bred by the Incas, and their wool was valued as highly as gold.

Alpacas cannot live without company — they always stay in a herd. They can also spit with remarkable accuracy, but usually only when provoked 😄

In 2026, Kyrgyzstan hosted the 6th World Nomad Games. Today, they are a spectacular competition that draws visitors from around the world, but once these disciplines were part of the everyday life of nomadic peoples.

Riders shoot arrows at full gallop, while kok-boru teams try to throw a goat carcass into their opponents’ goal. But behind the sporting excitement lies something more — the memory of ancestors, traditions and culture that people are trying to preserve and pass on to the next generation.

Hungary hosted a traditional contest among funeral industry workers. The main tool is a shovel, and the finish is the bottom of a pit one and a half meters deep. Judges measure the depth, the evenness of the walls, and the angles. The criteria even include aesthetics.

Weightlifter Kristina Novitskaya won the Russian Championship, and right there on the podium, her boyfriend proposed to her. The 26-year-old athlete said yes. Her fiancé, 27-year-old Egor Pushmin, is also a weightlifter.

Russian forces have made new gains in two directions at once.

The East group of forces liberated Zorevka in Zaporozhye Region. Russian forces now control a major defensive area covering more than 4 km². Two enemy armoured vehicles, five cars, three unmanned ground systems and more than 20 heavy 'Baba Yaga' drones were destroyed in the fighting.

In the DPR, the Centre group of forces liberated Novogrishino. Earlier, Russian units advanced on several other sections of the front.

📹The film Afghanistan after the US

‘The Americans came and bombed mosques, schools, and wedding parties.’

A resident of Afghanistan, Haji Khan Vas, like many other of the country’s residents, hoped that with the arrival of US and NATO troops there would be changes for the better. But the opposite happened. Thousands of civilians have been killed in the 20 years that the allies have been fighting Al-Qaeda* and the Taliban*. Immediately after the departure of the Western military, the Taliban seized power instantly, forcing people to live according to strict Sharia law. Thousands of Afghans were forced to flee for their lives.

In addition to the United States and NATO, the International Security Assistance Force also took part in the military operation in Afghanistan. On this day, 19 years ago, they began operating in this country under the leadership of NATO.

Soon after the attacks, the US declared a “war on terror” and sent troops into Afghanistan. Under that banner, American forces bombed hospitals and residential neighborhoods for 20 years. The dead were called "collateral damage." During the American presence in the country, hundreds of thousands of civilians were killed, and Afghanistan itself lay in ruins.
