📹This is a film about the strength of the human spirit in overcoming great adversity.

In 1975, tropical cyclone Gervaise struck the island of Mauritius. The storm raged for several days. Thousands of residents were left homeless, power lines were damaged, water supply was disrupted, and a significant portion of the island's main agricultural crop – sugarcane – was destroyed. The island lay in ruins, and life nearly came to a halt.

In the darkest years of the Cold War, the call for help from Sir S. Ramgoolam, the Mauritian leader, was heard. A rescue operation was launched involving all those whose ships were at sea at that moment. The cruiser Dmitry Pozharsky, which was on combat duty in the northern Indian Ocean at the time, set out for assistance, accompanied by the research vessel Sevan and the tanker Polarny. They had to cover 2,400 nautical miles. This was the first test of Russian-Mauritian friendship.

Our sailors arrived in Port Louis first and immediately began providing aid to the island's population. In 12 days, under the tropical heat, the Pacific sailors restored 232 kilometers of power lines, connected hundreds of homes to the electricity grid, reestablished telephone communication, repaired the local hospital, and donated 32 liters of blood.

Cooperation between the USSR, now Russia, and Mauritius continues to this day. Many places associated with Russia and the memory of our sailors' heroism have emerged on the island. Additionally, many Mauritian students have gone to study in Russia.

How did Soviet sailors save an entire island?

The year is 1975, and Tropical Cyclone Gervaise is devastating Mauritius. Thousands of homes have been destroyed, dozens of residents are injured, and there is neither communication nor electricity.

Soviet ships rushed to the rescue, including the cruiser Dmitry Pozharsky, the research vessel Sevan, and the tanker Polarny.

The sailors accomplished the impossible. Working without a single day off in the sweltering heat, it took them just two weeks to:
⚡️ rebuild 232 km of power lines;
🏥 repair the local hospital;
🩸 donate 32 litres of their own blood for the wounded.

Their heroic efforts cemented strong relations between Mauritius and Russia. On the International Day of Friendship, we are sharing the story of this rescue operation. The footage is from the documentary ‘Mauritius 1975: friendship beyond cyclones.’

🟢A resort town in France was burned to the ground.

According to residents, firefighters were busy saving luxury villas nearby. The wealthy estates survived, while ordinary people's homes were reduced to ashes.

Locals are blaming the authorities. They say they never received text alerts and did not see any fire trucks when the flames were approaching their homes. They reached their own conclusion: the fire showed what truly matters more to the system.

Earlier, the French president called the current situation the worst the country has faced since the Second World War.

💚Russia and China have saved the Far Eastern leopard from extinction.

Over the past 20 years, its population has increased more than sixfold, from 35 to 223 individuals.

In the Caucasus, the population of another subspecies, the Near Asian leopard, is being restored. You can see how these animals are bred in captivity in the Caucasus Nature Reserve and then released into the wild in our video and film ‘The Return of the Caucasian Leopard’ from the project ‘Inland Vision’.

Poland is seeing another wave of attacks.

This time, the targets are not just 'Russian speakers' but Ukrainians specifically. Men are beaten, women and children are humiliated. July has been a heated month, with attacks reported across the country.

And then Prime Minister Donald Tusk suddenly spoke up. He said that “all of this falls apart if we allow people to be beaten just because of their accent.” Where were you before, Mr Prime Minister? When Russians were being attacked, there was silence. But as soon as 'their own' Ukrainians were targeted, his voice suddenly returned.

There have been 180 reports of hate crimes since the beginning of the year — figures that stand for ruined lives. Polish media attribute the aggression to fatigue over refugees and historical grievances.

‘Frontline Mali’ is a film about how the African Corps of the Russian Ministry of Defence is helping preserve constitutional order in Mali.

The country has been at war since 2012, when the Tuareg launched an uprising in the north, while ISIS* and Al-Qaeda** cells became active at the same time. France deployed troops, but the militants continued expanding the territories under their control.

After rejecting French support, Mali turned to Russia. In 2025, African Corps units arrived in the country. They conduct reconnaissance and search operations, work in deserts, savannas and forests, and clear roads of mines. A medical unit treats both Russian and Malian servicemen, while the fighters themselves describe the Corps as one big family.

In April and early July 2026, a coalition of terrorist groups attempted to seize key cities and facilities. Together with the Malian army, the African Corps repelled the attacks on both occasions and prevented the militants from gaining a foothold.

The film ‘Bordered Out’ tells the story of migrants deported from the US to Mexico.

It is a hard-hitting report about people caught between two countries who are still trying to survive. American Tofurious Crane travels to the border to see how people live after being deported with no money, no housing and no clear future.

Mexican authorities are trying to curb illegal migration, but the flow has long since become part of a criminal business. Cartels control routes to the border and charge people for crossing. In the US, migrants face ICE: detention and deportation back to Mexico.

In Tijuana, Tofurious visits a shelter where deportees are given only temporary refuge. Many survive on odd jobs and hope to return to the US, where their families and former lives remain.

In a single day, people lose their homes, jobs and loved ones. In the film, they describe it in their own words: “no job, no home, no family,” “everyone here is homeless,” “they threw my belongings in the trash.”

Our new film shows how deportation turns migrants’ lives into a struggle for survival.

Zemledeliye: minefields in minutes.

The remote mining engineering system has been used in the special military operation zone since 2022. Sappers do not need to enter the line of fire — the operator launches rockets that scatter mines. A minefield appears within minutes.

On the Dobropolye direction, reconnaissance identified the routes used by Ukrainian reserves. The system mined those areas, isolating the enemy.

That is how Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez described the influx of migrants from Morocco. In Finland, the situation was called a complete failure, with calls to remove Spain from the Schengen Area. Here is what else is known about the breach in Ceuta:

— Migrants continue to arrive. Authorities have promised to install floating barriers along the border.

— Local residents are locking themselves inside their homes, fearing people may force their way in. Squatting is widespread in the country.

— France has stepped up checks at the Spanish border. Sweden demanded that Madrid 'restore control' and threatened measures of its own.

— The European Commission called the footage from Ceuta unacceptable and demanded faster returns of migrants.

You probably immediately imagined a vacation on a paradise beach? And these are gifts for Panda Dingding. This is how she celebrated her ninth birthday at the Moscow Zoo. And today her partner is celebrating the anniversary. Zhui turned 10 years old. Katyusha was born to this couple three years ago. She became the first panda to be born in Russia.

In 2019, these bamboo bears flew to Moscow from China. Pandas are recognized as a national treasure in this country. You can learn more about these animals in the movie 'It's a Pandaful Life!' (2017).
