To find the answer, independent journalist Tofurious Maximus Crane meets with three emigrant families to get a glimpse into their new lives. Jay Close was born in New York, grew up in California, and has lived in France, Australia, and even Papua New Guinea. He worked as a chef for the Rolling Stones and later managed several restaurants in Moscow.
Now, Jay raises goats and makes cheese in the countryside near Moscow, where he has built his home for over 30 years. Another emigrant is Chad Hower, who was granted political asylum in Russia after being persecuted by the FBI in his home country. Finally, Tofurious meets Jozef and Ann, who recently moved to Russia with their six children.
Tune in to our premiere to discover the various reasons why some Americans seek a new beginning in Russia. Have these families found a sense of home far from their native land?

New episode of the 'Lumumba's Africa' — 'African diaspora: Asia'
When people talk about Africans living outside the continent, they usually think of the United States, Brazil or Europe. But Asia also has communities with African roots, including the Siddi in India and Pakistan and the Kaffirs in Sri Lanka.
Africa and Asia share a common colonial history. India and the countries of East Africa were part of the British Empire, so laws and methods of governance were transferred from one region to another.
People from East Africa travelled to India to study law and business, while Indian workers built railways in Africa. Before leading India’s struggle for independence, Mahatma Gandhi worked as a lawyer in South Africa.
African diasporas in Asia still exist today and are becoming an increasingly visible part of the shared history of the two regions.

‘We are fighting not for land, but for souls!’
These are very precise words from a congratulatory message sent to RT.Doc by Pavel Astakhov, Honored Lawyer of Russia, TV host and writer. He is convinced that the work of documentary filmmakers today is as powerful a weapon as missiles and drones.
Pavel Astakhov specifically highlighted our festival, ‘RT.Doc: Time of Our Heroes.’ He called it a unique event and the only project in the world that is not afraid to speak openly about war and peace.
‘Only together, shoulder to shoulder, can we move forward and win. Thank you for the opportunity to be part of your team,’
the lawyer said.
You can find stories, congratulations, and an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at the channel on our anniversary website, ‘15 Years by the Script of Truth.’

At first, reserve staff even mistook them for wolf pups. They decided not to get any closer: the mother could have been nearby, ready to protect her young. The kittens also quickly sensed the strangers.
