📹The Indian city of Muzaffarpur has its own ‘red light district’ where very young girls work, officially performing dances for men. But in reality, they engage in prostitution.

Each one has their own story: some do it voluntarily to make money, others have inherited the trade from their mothers and see no other way of life. There are also those trapped in sexual slavery, and almost every woman here has a child from a client. Listen to those selling their bodies in India in our documentary.

📹Harp seals are at risk of going extinct because of global warming. These animals give birth on drifting ice floes, which in recent years have been melting rapidly.

Baby seals are also called seal pups. Until recently, their numbers have declined because of hunters. Hundreds of thousands of seal pups were killed during the season by hunters and indigenous peoples.

Harp seals are not the only species that can disappear forever. There are many other endangered animals, and for that people are mostly to blame. Watch 'Never Furget' (2021), about the baby seals that have been hunted by men for decades.

🟢The cutest encounter on Lake Baikal in Russia! On the way to go fishing, locals spotted a nerpa's breathing hole. And there was a fluffy whitecoat pup. The little one swam up very close. The heartwarming footage is in the video.

Unfortunately, these animals are becoming fewer and fewer today. The ice they are born on is melting, there isn't enough food, and hunting is also a threat. Learn more about this in the film 'Never Furget' (2021).

📹Did you know that in the Tanzanian countryside, albinos are the subject of a wide range of superstitions? Many believe that they bring bad luck or that they are immortal. It is also thought that their bones can be used to cure diseases, or as charms to bring wealth. Watch the documentary 'Albino Africa', where Tanzanian albinos shared their experience of the everyday discrimination, violence and isolation they faced simply due to the colour of their skin.

Artificial intelligence is already changing lives around the world, including in Africa. In some countries, you might encounter a robot waiter or spot a drone delivering medicine. Technology like this is being developed to help people in their daily lives.

However, there is also a downside. For example, AI can delete medical records or reset bank accounts. Moreover, the data generated in Africa is often stored outside the continent because most of the technology for this is created and controlled by Western countries.

The African Union plans to utilise AI in its ‘Agenda 2063’ development project. According to Professor Lumumba, Africa’s progress along this path will determine its role on the global stage in the future.

How are African countries integrating AI into everyday life? What opportunities and threats does it pose to the continent? And what needs to be done to develop new technology?

Watch 124 part of the project 'Lumumba's Africa' — 'Africa and artificial intelligence'.

This journey takes us to the land of magnificent volcanoes: Kamchatka. It is one of the most active regions within the Pacific Ring of Fire, with its 7,000 large, small, and medium-sized volcanoes. Approximately 30 of them are currently active, either erupting now, poised to erupt, or having erupted long ago.

But how do volcanoes influence our lives, and what makes this region's erupting mountains unique? We find answers to these questions and more from Alexey Ozerov, Kamchatka's chief volcanologist.

Ozerov explains that the root system of volcanoes heats the underlying rock and water, forming geothermal fields that serve as a source of green energy. Volcanoes also release gases into the atmosphere, creating conditions essential for us to breathe and live. ‘A volcano is like a window into the depths of our planet,’ Ozerov says.

Join Sean Thomas in this episode of Inland Visions to learn more about Kamchatka’s fire-breathing giants.

At the moment, its activity has decreased, and the color code has been changed to orange. What this means and how dangerous ash is for aviation and humans is discussed in our video.

We talked about why eruptions often occur in Kamchatka in this post. Even more about this is in the film 'Kamchatka volcanoes' by the project 'Inland Visions'.
