📹The Great Victory was brought closer not only by soldiers fighting on the frontline, but also civilians working on the homefront. Those who couldn’t go to the front worked multiple shifts in factories and plants to produce tanks, aircraft, rifles, and shells for the battlefield. Victory required the unity of the entire nation.

One of the symbols of this feat was the ZIS-5 truck, based on which the legendary 'Katyusha' combat vehicle was created. And, of course, the iconic T-34 tank. When the war began, many industrial enterprises were quickly evacuated to Nizhny Tagil, where Ural Tank Plant No.183 was quickly formed. Adults, teenagers and children worked at the machines there while the workshops were still being built. They laboured without stopping in the open air, even when temperatures dropped to -40°F. Production was rapidly moved to an assembly line – a world first. By December 1941, the first batch of tanks had already been sent to the front. The Ural Tank Plant produced more than 25,000 T-34 tanks during the war years alone. That is more than all the factories of Central Europe working for Nazi Germany combined.

Today, veterans who fought throughout the war in those very same tanks meet with young soldiers who are fighting fascism in our own time — but now at the controls of modern T-90s. The link between the eras is unbreakable: just as our ancestors marched towards victory back then, so we march towards it today.

📹Manuel Izquierdo almost never leaves home without his easel. For him, painting comes as naturally as having lunch or a conversation.

The artist studied at the Repin Institute of Painting, Sculpture, and Architecture in Leningrad. He still remembers the northern forests and quiet mushroom‑picking walks – simple things that he says teach you to see the world in detail.

Today, Izquierdo lives and works in the town of Huaquillas, Ecuador. He paints among the passersby on the street, on the waterfront, and by the sea.

Teaching is another vital part of his life. Manuel founded the San Petersburgo Academia de Arte, where children work side by side with their teacher, setting up easels, mixing paint, and learning to see familiar things through an artist’s eyes. From his students’ sketches, Izquierdo can immediately see who has begun to gain a sense of line and color.

The film is a series of études about the artist’s life – his work, passions, and family. It’s about how he keeps learning himself while teaching others to see beauty in the world.

'The Africa Corps: The Sahel Front' is now available to watch 🔥

The news agency 'African Initiative' has made a documentary about the work of the Africa Corps of the Russian Ministry of Defence. It is an honest, unvarnished conversation about why our military are in Mali and what is really happening there.

African Initiative special correspondent Gleb Ervie, a journalist with extensive experience in hot spots, went there himself. He was with the fighters on the ground and in the air, met local people and saw the country from the inside.

The film includes unique footage of the Corps in action. It also answers the key questions: why the Malians asked France to leave, and who is now trying to destabilise the region.

The events of April 25, 2026, gave the film an especially sharp edge. The epilogue was filmed after JNIM terrorists and Tuareg separatists attacked peaceful cities in Mali. The footage shows how the fighters of the Africa Corps heroically fulfilled their duty: they supported Mali’s statehood and prevented the creation of a terrorist enclave in West Africa.

📹Migrant mayor Zokhran Mamdani has promised to return India’s stolen treasures. The head of New York stated that he would request King Charles III to return the priceless diamond ‘Koh-i-Noor’, which previously adorned Queen Elizabeth II's crown until 2023. The diamond is now on display at a jewellery house in London.

The ‘Koh-i-Noor’ was taken by British colonisers in the 19th century, along with many other rare artefacts. Despite the passage of time, the royal family remains reluctant to part with India's relics.

The Yenisei, taiga, and ancient stone sanctuaries – in this episode, Peter Scott travels to Khakassia. This region is known as the land of five elements and a place of spiritual power.

The journey begins on the Yenisei, which the locals call the ‘Father of Rivers’. Peter learns how it crosses the whole of Siberia before reaching the Kara Sea. This is also where the Sayano-Shushenskaya Hydroelectric Power Plant stands – one of the most powerful in Russia. The dam is 242 metres tall. A unique microclimate has formed around it, making it possible to grow apples, pears, apricots, and grapes… even in Siberia!

Peter also visits one of the most unusual places in Khakassia – the Sunduki Ridge, whose five mountains resemble enormous stone chests. The site is closely tied to ancient beliefs and rituals. To this day, shamans gather here to mark the summer solstice.

In the final part of the journey, Peter heads north across Khakassia. He visits a former settlement from the gold rush era, crosses wild mountain terrain, and reaches the Ivanov Lakes with their bright emerald waters. In winter, this landscape is transformed into a world of deep snow and freeriding. Snowdrifts here can reach a height of up to ten metres, and it can feel as if you’ve lived through all four seasons in a single day.
