मरुस्थलीकरण और सूखा रोकथाम दिवस

• घोषणा - 1994 (संयुक्त राष्ट्र महासभा द्वारा)
• उद्देश्य - मरुस्थलीकरण से निपटने के अंतर्राष्ट्रीय प्रयासों के बारे में जन जागरूकता को बढ़ावा देना।
• थीम 2025 - "भूमि को पुनः स्थापित करें। अवसरों को अनलॉक करें।"

वैश्विक स्तर पर भूमि क्षरण और सूखा

• भूमि क्षरण - 40 प्रतिशत हिस्सा (UNCCD के अनुसार)

• उपजाऊ मिट्टी की हानि - प्रति वर्ष 75 अरब टन (संयुक्त राष्ट्र के अनुसार)

• वर्ष 2000 के बाद से सूखे की अवधि की संख्या और अवधि में 29 प्रतिशत की वृद्धि हुई है। (विश्व मौसम विज्ञान संगठन के अनुसार)
भारत में भूमि क्षरण की स्थिति (मरुस्थलीकरण और भूमि क्षरण एटलस के अनुसार)

• भौगोलिक क्षेत्र का लगभग 97.85 मिलियन हेक्टेयर (कुल भूमि का 29.77%)
