In December 1996, during Sheikh Hasina's visit to India after the Awami League came to power in Bangladesh, both countries signed a 30-year agreement on the sharing of Ganga waters.
### Key Points:
- If the water availability in the Ganga is less than 70,000 cusecs, both countries will receive equal amounts of water.
- If water availability is between 70,000 and 75,000 cusecs, Bangladesh will get 35,000 cusecs, and the rest will go to India.
- If the water flow exceeds 75,000 cusecs, India will receive 40,000 cusecs, and Bangladesh will receive the remaining water.
- This agreement is a milestone in India-Bangladesh relations and will expire in 2026.

India has achieved an impressive 39th position out of 133 global economies in the Global Innovation Index 2024. From ranking 81st in 2015, India has made significant progress over the years. It also holds the top spot in the Central and Southern Asia region and among lower-middle-income economies. The Global Innovation Index is released by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO).
