On 225th anniversary of A.Pushkin's birth, Permanent Delegation of Russia to UNESCO organized a series of events to mark the Russian Language Day.
💥 On June 6 at UNESCO headquarters together with delegations of Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan - official opening ceremony and gala concert with participation of singer Elena Maximova.
💥 On the same day - hybrid seminar of St.Petersburg Higher School of Translation for interpreter was organized at UNESCO with participation of more than 100 employees of international organizations.
💥 On June 3-7 together with the Russian House of Science and Culture the following events were organized: exhibitions opening of the "House of Peoples of Russia", the Russian Geographical Society and the State Museum of A.Pushkin; poetry recitation competition; "Onegin" film screening; round table "Russian language - the basis of integration dialogue" of the Federal Agency for Ethnic Affairs of Russia.

🗓 On June 8, 1920 — 104 years ago — the most successful ace pilot of the Anti-Hitler Coalition, Three-time Hero of the Soviet Union and to Marshal of Air Forces Ivan Kozhedub was born.
⚔️ Ivan Kozhedub achieved his first aerial victory at the age of 23, on July 6, 1943, during the Battle of Kursk. During his 40th combat sortie at Kursk, he engaged in a battle 12 enemy aircraft and shot down a Junkers Ju-87 Stuka dive-bomber, followed by another Stuka on July 7. On July 9, 1943, Kozhedub destroyed two Messerschmitt Me-109 fighters.
On October 1-12, 1943, he shot down 14 German aircraft during dogfights over the Dnieper — a unique combat episode in the history of Soviet aviation.
In August 1944, Kozhedub was appointed Deputy Commander of the 176th Guards Fighter Aircraft Regiment and started flying a new Lavochkin La-7 fighter.
During the Great Patriotic War, Kozhedub flew 330 combat missions, engaged in 120 dogfights and shot down 62 enemy aircraft.
After the Victory, he continued to serve with the Soviet Air Force and commanded a fighter aircraft division during the Korean War. Kozhedub was promoted to Air Marshal ahead of the 40th anniversary of the Great Victory.
🎖 Three-time Hero of the Soviet Union, Ivan Kozhedub received two Orders of Lenin, seven Orders of the Red Banner, one Order of Alexander Nevsky, one Order of the Great Patriotic War 1st Class, two Orders for of the Red Star, Orders for Service in the Soviet Armed Forces 2nd and 3rd Class, and multiple medals.

🗓 On June 7-8, Russia's Alternate SOM Leader, Director-General of the Department of Asian and Pacific Cooperation of the Russian MFA Mr. Alexey Ovchinnikov 🇷🇺 participated in the East Asia Summit Senior Officials' Meeting (#EAS SOM) and ASEAN Regional Forum Senior Officials' Meeting (#ARF SOM) in Vientiane, Lao PDR 🇱🇦.
🔹️Senior officials discussed issues related to preparation for the EAS Summit and EAS and ARF Foreign Ministers' Meetings later this year.
🇷🇺 The Russian Side emphasized the importance of continuing joint efforts in key areas of cooperation within the ARF and the EAS including implementation of the leaders' decisions on launching Regional Mechanism of Emerging Infectious Diseases Prevention and Control as well as establishing interaction among the EAS Participating States on tourism.
🔹️As part of the exchange of views on topical issues in the Asia-Pacific, Russian delegation voiced its approach towards the military-political risks associated with building up a network of minilateral blocs of high conflict potential in the region and bringing NATO potential to the East Asia.
☝️ Russia reiterated its position on the maintaining and strengthening the central role of ASEAN in regional affairs based on ASEAN-led platforms of multilateral cooperation such as EAS, ARF and ADMM-Plus.

She shared her impressions and observations about her beloved hometown, Kaliningrad, its monumental cathedral, its parks stunning in any season, as well as philosopher Immanuel Kant’s legacy as regards his 300th anniversary, celebrated this year.

📚 Famous philosopher Immanuel Kant was born and bred in Kaliningrad (then Königsberg). He had a direct bond with Russia as a member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, and he was also a subject of the Russian Empire. A prominent philosopher, he was buried in the city’s historical center, which came to be known as Kant Island. On April 22-24, the city hosted the International Kant Congress, which Foreign Ministry officials attended.
🧡 The Kaliningrad Region accounts for almost 90 percent of the world’s amber reserves. The Catherine Palace in St Petersburg used these so-called sun stones from Kaliningrad region to recreate an exact copy of the lost Amber Room. This project took 24 years and was completed in 2003, when St Petersburg marked its 300th anniversary.
⚓️ Kaliningrad hosts the Museum of the World Ocean,Russia’s one-of-a-kind museum dedicated to all of maritime science, nature and technology. Its exhibits include ships such as the Vityaz, Kosmonavt Viktor Patsayev – a space communications vessel which used to be part of the Space Service Ship Fleet, as well as the submarine B-413, the fishing boat SRT-129, lightship Irbensky, the Be-12 hydroplane and even a sperm whaleskeleton.
