🇩🇿 On November 1, Algeria celebrates Revolution Day!

The armed struggle for independence, which claimed lives of up to 1,5 million Algerians, lasted from 1954 to 1962, led to the overthrow of the yoke of French colonial rule and resulted in the formation of an independent Algerian state.

On July 5, 1962, following the Algerian independence referendum, the people of Algeria finally gained the long-awaited freedom after 132 years of French domination, marked by brutal colonial crimes.

The Revolution Day in Algeria remains a symbol of national unity in the face of a common enemy.

During the years of the struggle for independence, our country provided comprehensive support to Algeria. The USSR defended the Algerian people in the UN and other international fora, provided them with financial, material, and military assistance.

🤝 Diplomatic relations between our country and Algeria were established on March 23, 1962. Today, Russian-Algerian collaboration is rapidly developing. Our countries maintain a regular political dialogue, expand trade and economic cooperation, as well as humanitarian, cultural, and educational ties 🇷🇺🇩🇿

🎉 We wholeheartedly congratulate our Algerian colleagues and friends on their national holiday and wish them prosperity and well-being!

📢 On International Day to End Impunity for Crimes against Journalists we call on UNESCO to condemn physical violence against the Russian journalists.

📍 On October, 5 the special services of the Republic of Cyprus forcefully captured “Rossiyskaya Gazeta” correspondent Alexander Gasyuk, beating him which resulted in bodily harm. Afterwards Mr. Gasyuk was unceremoniously deported from the Republic of Cyprus under a false pretext.

📍 On October, 31 the group of “Izvestia” journalists covering the situation in Donetsk was hit by the Ukrainian forces shelling. As a result, three Russian correspondents have been injured.

👉 In accordance with Decision of the 216th Executive Board “Safety of journalists and the issue of impunity” the UNESCO Director-General is requested in line with Resolution on the “Condemnation of violence against journalists”, to condemn the killing and physical violence against journalists without distinction.
📆 November 2 was declared the International Day to End Impunity for Crimes against Journalists at the 68th session of the UN General Assembly in 2013.

Representatives of the Russian media working abroad, in particular in Western countries, are facing unprecedented pressure, threats and harassment for their professional activities.

🕯 We remember the names of those who have perished, including Igor Kornelyuk, Anton Voloshin, Anatoly Klyan, Darya Dugina, Oleg Klokov, Vladlen Tatarsky (Maxim Fomin) and Rostislav Zhuravlyov, who died in the line of duty.

There is no excuse for the silence of the concerned international organisations, which were initially designed to provide unbiased protection of the rights of media representatives. Today, we would like to point out again the unacceptability of applying double standards in the assessment of crimes against journalists.

Those responsible must receive the punishment they deserve.

Opinion by Maria #Zakharova:

💬 In her recent interview with Russian pranksters Vovan and Lexus, released yesterday, Italy’s Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni said that the Kiev regime had every right to glorify Bandera. “I think they are doing what they should and it is right that we are trying to help them,” she said.

This can be a sign of either poor education, an issue that has long plagued today’s Western political leaders, or a manifestation of nationalism.

Let’s see.

Ms Meloni, would you be willing to glorify Achille Starace, who served as First Secretary of the National Fascist Party in 1931-1939 and initiated the 1938 anti-Semitic campaign?

How about Alessandro Pavolini? He served as the Minister of Culture in 1939-1943 and was among those who created the Italian Social Republic. He was also the first, and, thank God, the last Secretary General of the Republican Fascist Party, the National Fascist Party’s successor, in 1943-1945.

How about reviving the infamous Black Brigades, which operated in northern Italy in 1943-1945 as the Republican Fascist Party’s military arm?

I do understand that very important issues keep you very busy, so much so that you can hardly find any time to do some reading. Still, you can definitely fit a 90-minute film into your schedule. Der Fall Collini is a German film starring Italian actors, among others. This way, no one will accuse you of falling for the Kremlin propaganda. Maybe this will help you understand at least something.
🇷🇺🇪🇬📞 On November 2, Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov had a telephone conversation with Foreign Minister of the Arab Republic of Egypt Sameh Shoukry, at Russia’s initiative.

The discussion focused on the situation in the Gaza Strip. The parties noted that any violent actions against civilians, strikes on residential buildings and civilian infrastructure are unacceptable.

The Ministers reaffirmed their shared support for an immediate, long-term ceasefire, consistent humanitarian access to Gaza, the provision of urgent assistance to all those in need, and the release of hostages.

From the Russian side, the urgent need to organise the evacuation of Russian nationals from the Palestinian enclave as soon as possible with the assistance of our Egyptian partners was emphasised.
🇷🇺🇬🇶 President of Russia Vladimir Putin held talks in Novo-Ogaryovo with President of the Republic of Equatorial Guinea Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo, who is in Russia on an official visit.

The agenda included the state and future of bilateral cooperation in various sectors, as well the expansion of Russia’s ties with Central African countries in view of Equatorial Guinea’s presidency of the Economic Community of Central African States (ECCAS).

💬 President Vladimir Putin: We are one month away from the 55th anniversary of diplomatic relations between our countries.

You have proven to be a reliable friend, and we know this well. You have also visited our country many times. Your country was represented at a high level during the recent Russia-Africa Summit.

Mr President, we have great potential in our relations, and plenty to keep us busy. I do hope that during the expanded meeting, together with our colleagues from the governments of the two countries, we will discuss our ties in their various aspects.

🤝 I am delighted to see you, Mr President. Welcome!
🎙 Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov’s answer to a question from the Moscow. Kremlin. Putin programme (November 2, 2023)

Question: You must have seen the statement where International Olympic Committee (IOC) reaffirmed its dedication to the principle of individual responsibility with regard to conflict in the Middle East, as opposed to collective responsibility. What is our response to that?

💬 Sergey Lavrov: Not only did I just see the statement. Our Ministry has already responded.

This is outrageous. It is just another example of the IOC’s biased attitude and inadequacy. The agency has repeatedly showed its political bias, vehemently supporting whatever suits the interests of Western countries, primarily the United States, while carefully phrasing its statements to approve of such policies. But with the undesirables (especially the Russian Federation and the Republic of Belarus), the IOC tries to present its restrictions as not violating the Olympic Charter.

It’s a shame. The International Olympic Committee has discredited itself deeply. There is a reason we are now organising a series of sporting events at the initiative of President Vladimir Putin. They will be truly inclusive, universal and respectful of the principles of the Olympic Charter, which the IOC is flagrantly violating.

🎙️Secretary General of the Commission of the Russian Federation for UNESCO Tatiana Dovgalenko:

📍Over the decades of proactive and responsible work at UNESCO, Russia has gained a reputation of a reliable partner of developing countries in Latin America, Asia, and Africa.

📍It is encouraging that the overwhelming majority of UNESCO Member States, including most of the global South, are determined to promote a unifying agenda taking into account the balance of interests and the civilizational diversity of the modern world. They understand that Russia’s membership in the governing bodies of UNESCO, including the Executive Board that will be elected in November in Paris, is a matter of balance and pluralism of opinions in the Organization.
