In 1 Corinthians 14:3, the Apostle Paul clearly teaches that genuine prophecy in the church is given “for their upbuilding and encouragement and consolation” Paul’s whole instruction in that chapter emphasizes that spiritual gifts, including prophecy, are meant to strengthen believers, bring comfort, and build up the body of Christ not to fill people with fear or anxiety.

When any message creates widespread panic about a coming “big scary event” where people will suddenly fall over and die, it does not align with the peaceful, edifying purpose Paul describes. Instead of chasing dramatic predictions, we are called to test everything against Scripture, fix our eyes on Jesus, and remember that “God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control” (2 Timothy 1:7).
