Billionaire investor Tim Draper has backed a new accelerator aimed at Cardano startups.

Draper University partnered with Cardano and the Orion Fund to launch the Apex Growth Accelerator. The 10-week program opens applications until September 1 and begins on-site work October 5.

Selected startups focused on DeFi infrastructure and real-world assets receive up to $70,000 for a 3.5 percent equity stake. The Orion Fund, an $80 million vehicle launched earlier this year by Cardano and Draper Dragon, powers the initiative.

The program targets founders who already have working products and seeks to connect them with Draper's Silicon Valley network.

Cardano-based teams gain structured access to capital and mentorship that has historically been concentrated in other ecosystems.

It remains unclear how many applicants will be accepted or whether the equity terms will attract the most advanced projects.

The first cohort will determine whether the pipeline produces companies that draw follow-on rounds from Draper's broader investor circle.
