Lift Me Up
Jonah went down five times!!
⬇️
First he went DOWN to the town of Joppa.
He looked around for a ship going to Tarshish.
He paid the fare and then, number two, he went DOWN into the ship.
°
After boarding the ship Jonah went DOWN below, into the sides of the ship.
That was a third time.
°
The 4th time was when the sailors TOOK HIM UP,
and threw him out of the ship and DOWN into the sea!
°
..............................................................
👁🗨
Notice the words "TAKE UP".
▪️vs12 Take Me Up and throw me out into the Sea
▪️vs15 So they TOOK UP Jonah and threw him out into the sea.
°
Unknowingly and unaware, they were actually throwing Jonah,
not just into the Sea,
but into God's mercy,
and into God's grace,
and into God's provision!
°
God had prepared a big fish,
to keep Jonah alive
in the Mediterranean, for 3 days.
.........................................................
👁🗨
The words "TAKE UP" are translated from the Hebrew word NASA.
Nasa means to LIFT.
Or to lift up.
°
Jonah went DOWN.
He went DOWN to Joppa.
Then He went DOWN into the ship.
And went DOWN into the sides of the ship.
°
The sailors encountered a man who was DOWN.
Jonah wasn't just down, he was in a Downward Spiral!
In fact, he was going to go DOWN
a fifth time!
The fifth time, he hit rock bottom.
°
Verse 6 Chapter 2.
"I went DOWN to the bottoms of the mountains ..."
......................................................
°
🤔
What can we learn from this?
What can we gather from this?
🔹
In those times when YOU are DOWN,
when you are feeling down, or when you're about to go down,
or when you're on a Downward Spiral,
YOU NEED some sailors,
you need some sea-men, some fellow travellers,
some fellow brothers, some fellow sisters,
some believers, TO LIFT YOU UP!
°
To lift you up in PRAYER
To lift you up with words of encouragement.
To lift you up with words of caution.
To lift you up with their faith.
°
....................................................
🙏🏼
Lift up somebody in prayer today.
...................................................
BUT REMEMBER: 👇
🙌🏼
THE LORD GOD IS THE LIFTER UP
OF YOUR HEAD!
👉 Psalm 3:3
"But You, O LORD, are a shield for me,
my glory, and the LIFTER UP of my head".
°
Amen.

Preaching Message
today!
📜
In Psalm 40
David gave a testimony.
🕳
He had been in a horrible hole!
😫
But he cried unto God.
💦
It was a slippery slope.
He couldn't get out by himself.
💪🏼
He needed the God who has
a mighty arm and a strong hand.
(Psalm 89:13)
He needed the God who's hand
is not shortened that it cannot save;
neither his ear heavy that it cannot hear:
The God who was bruised for our iniquities.
(Isaiah 53:5 & 59:1)
.....................................
🙌🏼
Then at last, God BROUGHT HIM UP
and ALSO OUT of the pit and mud.
He ESCAPED.

Hear My CRY
.........................
David gave the following testimony
in Psalm 40.
🗣️
" I did not give up waiting for the Lord.
And He turned to me and heard my cry.
He brought me up out of the hole of danger,
out of the mud and clay.
He set my feet on a rock, making my feet sure. "
(NLV)
..................................................................
🕳️
David was in a hole. David was in a bind.
David was in a fix.
He couldn't get himself out.
It was slippery.
He probably kept falling back into it!
And there was no one to help him out.
Maybe no one understood.
Or no one cared.
..................................................................
🗣️
There was only one thing to do.
CRY UNTO GOD!
When he felt like he had God's attention,
he let it rip: a hearty, urgent, deep cry
unto God.
A deep, urgent, heartfelt, CRY unto God.
That kind of prayer gets God's immediate response.
"He heard my cry!"
When God responds, your problem is as good as solved.
"He Brought Me Up, and Out!"
°
David testifies, "I was able to get on with my life"
I was so happy I started singing,
and making up songs!
..................................................................
Then in verse 4, he gives everyone
some good advice:
"BLESSED IS THE MAN WHO MAKES
THE LORD HIS TRUST"
Trusting God!
The highest virtue.
Trusting God.
Depending on God. Relying on God. Leaning.
Leeeeeaaaaannnniiiinnng on Him!
He's going to do great things!
He's going to pull some people out
of some horrible pits.
..................................................................
The righteous CRY,
and the Lord HEARS,
and delivers them
out of all their troubles.
Psalm 34:17
