So police are more likely to use a show of force in the form of crowd control weapons for more range and coverage than they can use on their own when they decide to respond. Note that the geneva convention strictly prohibits the use of tear gas on militarized forces which a militia technically is. So if the officers decide to use crowd control means on NFAC or other armed groups, they would be breaking international law on a higher level than just using it on civilian demonstrators. Louisville wouldn't need to be boarded up if justice is served to Breonna's murderers.
