Eskom Has confirmed *loadshedding stage 2* will continue tomorrow from 9:000 to 23:00. Usually Centlec tries to first control this by switching off geysers. But if this is not enough, loadshedding will again be implemented.

Group 1 is 12:00 to 14:30
Group 2 is 14:00 to 16:30
Group 3 is 16:00 to 18:30

Eskom just announced *loadshedding stage 2 will be implemented* from 12:00 stage 2. Thus it is now stage 1, which hopefully means only geyser control or very limited loadshedding. Then from 12:00 it will be stage 2, which will most likely mean loadshedding as per the schedule.

Group 3 is 14:00 to 16:30
Group 4 is 16:00 to 18:30

Eskom has announced stage 1 loadshedding for today.

Centlec has confirmed that from 10:00 loashedding will start, as per the schedules.

Centlec het bevestig dat hul met beurtkrag gaan begin om 10:00.

Eskom het nood aankondigong gemaak dat daar van 22:00 vannaand tot moreoggend 05:00 beurtkrag sal wees.

Dit beteken areas in Groep 6 sal moontlik van 22:00 tot 00:30 af wees

Eskom is al heel week op die randjie van beurtlrag as gevolg van onvoorsiene probleme.

Vir die volgende paar dae is die situasie ook baie ernstig, so help asb soveel moontlik krag spaar sodat ons nie onnodig beurtkrag het nie.

Loadshedding ended at 5am. However the system remains volatile, so please save electricity to help avoid unneccesary interruptions.

*WE ENCOURAGE ALL HOUSEHOLDS TO SEPERATE WASTE TO DO THEIR BIT FOR THE FUTURE OF OUR CITY*

One of the ways that residents and organizations can assist to significantly decrease the overall amount of waste the municipality is by implementing recycling habits at household level through:

· Separating all recyclable matter from organic waste

· Placing recyclable waste in a clear bag so that waste pickers can easily pick up the bag with all the recyclables without having to rip it open to separate organic waste.

· Placing organic waste in a seperate bag with a sign to inform waste pickers that there is only organic waste in the bag.

This has the potential to reduce the amount of waste that the city needs to pick up and dump at landfills by up to 70%. Not only can it reduce the number of trips and time needed to pick up and discard the waste of an area, but it can also have a positive impact on the lifespan of Mangaung landfill sites, which are already reaching end of life.

Where the DA governs communities are supported and encouraged to recycle through innovative incentives and municipal recycling project. DA governments furthermore run waste management as efficiently as possible in consultation with communities to ensure the best possible level of service.

Good day all

For those that have not seen or heard the good news, Eskom has suspended the planned interruption of power supply.

Thus the crisis has been averted for now.

However the Bloemwater and Eskom woes point to a deepening financial problem in Mangaung which will probably only get worse in the coming months, in my opinion.

Unless very drastic changes are happen in the way the city is led and managed, such problems will escalate in future, in my opinion.

As always, my colleagues will not stand idle while these problems unfold. The water and electricity situations were resolved in part because we put pressure on the minister, premier and MEC to intervene and made residents and parliament aware of the approaching crises so that they could be prepared.
