World First in Clean Energy! India Makes Hydrogen Using Nuclear Reactor Heat, Not Power

India has achieved a major clean energy breakthrough with the world’s first hydrogen production plant powered by nuclear reactor heat instead of electricity. Commissioned at Kalpakkam by the Department of Atomic Energy, the facility uses heat from the Fast Breeder Test Reactor to drive a thermochemical process for hydrogen generation.
