What was once considered the edge of the city is becoming one of its fastest-growing centers.
As rising costs push residents outward and new communities take shape, the road between Bole and Summit tells a bigger story about aspiration, urban growth, and the future of Addis.

There was a time when we all watched the same shows, sang the same songs, and showed up talking about the same moments.
Today, we have endless content at our fingertips, yet fewer experiences that bring us together.
Maybe that's why so many of us miss those days. Not because everything was better, but because for a brief moment, despite all our differences, we were all dancing to the same tune.
Do you remember the last thing that truly brought Ethiopians together?

Did Ethiopia’s most iconic film, Yewendoch Guday, accidentally stifle the very industry it helped put on the map?
While the 1990s were a golden era of experimental creativity, the massive success of this one masterpiece arguably trapped subsequent generations in a cycle of imitation, as filmmakers spent two decades desperately chasing the same comedic formula rather than pushing new boundaries. We mistook the film’s unique brilliance for a simple blueprint, inadvertently turning a once vibrant landscape into a vacuum of shallow, repetitive content.
It is time to have the uncomfortable conversation about whether we have been so busy trying to replicate the past that we perhaps have sacrificed our future?
