Founders’ Lounge Vol. VIII is organized in partnership with the Habesha Diaspora Community, an organization supporting Ethiopian returnees from the diaspora in re-establishing their lives and businesses in Addis Ababa. Centered on the theme "Global Roots, Local Routes: Diaspora Founders Shaping Addis," the event features a panel discussion with Meljaye Simie (Founder of Hansim Skin and Hansim Salon & Spa), Mahdere Tigabe (Founder of La Vie en Rose), and Abel Beyene (Vice President of Brokerage Services at CBE Capital). The session will be moderated by Ruth Tekleab Mekbib and Melat Belayneh.

Social Addis will host a Deep Listening session featuring Mereba's debut album, The Jungle Is the Only Way Out, on Wednesday, October 1, starting at 7:00 PM (1:00 LT).

The event includes a full playback of the album which blends neo-soul, folk, spoken word, and hip-hop followed by a video Q&A with the artist. Herbal tea will be served, and the venue maintains a phone-free policy. Admission is 100 Birr.

One Motion Dance Academy is hosting a dance workshop featuring instructors Jino Kim, Sura, and Makbel. The event includes instruction on routines to MONEY by CORTIS and BLOODY PARADISE by ENHYPEN. The program also features a VIP student performance, an appearance by Korean guest artist Skykim, a traditional Korean dance performance by Sharon, and a presentation by the One Motion Crew.

Applications are open for the 2027 Ethiopian National Debate Team, following the nation's participation in the 34th World Schools Debating Championships in Nairobi and international tournaments across Asia and Europe. Eligible applicants must be 20 or younger by July 27, 2027, and be enrolled in an Ethiopian high school, studying secondary education abroad, or a recent graduate who has not entered university. Candidates must also commit to training two to three times weekly and attending the 2027 championships in Sofia, Bulgaria.

A group of 30 to 40 students will complete a three-month training program, after which five debaters will be chosen to represent Ethiopia at the world championships. Prospective candidates should demonstrate a strong interest in research, academic learning, and teamwork.
