اما بعد از مدتی ثابت شده که جرقه های ایجاد شده در این روش قادر به ایجاد انفجار در تانکهای نفتی و گازی هستند. لذا از سال 2006 موسسه استاندارد نفت آمریکا API در مورد استفاده از این روش هشدار داد.

لذا برای حل این مشکل پیشنهاد شد که سقف شناور مخازن را با استفاده از تعداد مشخصی رشته هادی مسی به بدنه مخازن متصل نماييم كه به ناچار در این روش رشته های هادی میبایست بقدری بلند انتخاب شوند که عملا سقف شناور مخزن را در پایین ترین وضعیت بتواند به بدنه وصل کند .
لذا در شرایط عادی هادیها بر روی سقف مخزن به شکل دست و پا گیری در آمده و عملا ایجاد مزاحمت میکنند.

به همین خاطر حداقل دو پیشنهاد کاربردی برای رفع این مشکل در صنعت پیشنهاد شد :
الف- استفاده از قرقره جمع شونده که با نام تجاری RGA معروف شد (Retractable Grounding Assembly).

ب- استفاده از بازوی متحرک که با نام تجاری معروف MAGS شد (Moveable Arm Grounding System).
