Mang-aawit (Choir member)

People often ask me, “What’s it like being a choir member?”
Well, it’s not always easy. Being a choir member takes discipline.

It means choosing to show up even when facing my own personal battles, because my purpose is not my own, but God’s. To sing praises to God is all I have ever known to love and treasure since I was young, and the older I get, the more thankful I am for this gift.

With every performance, I am reminded of how patient and loving God is. Even when I reach my physical limits, I emerge spiritually stronger, braver, and ready to face the world. Whenever I put on my uniform, hold my hymnal, and close my eyes—praying to God—all of my exhaustion fades away. Once again, God has shown His mercy to me. Each lyric I sing is an echo of my heart, and together, in united harmony, we as choir members dedicate each melody to sing to the Father for all of His goodness.

So when people ask me, “What’s it like being a choir member?”
It’s a blessing. It’s my way of fighting through life. It’s choosing God first—always—and trusting that every sacrifice has a purpose.
