-ing and -ed clauses

"clause ဆိုတာ ဝါကျရဲ့ အစိတ်အပိုင်းတစ်ခုပါ။ တချို့ clause တွေက -ing သို့မဟုတ် -ed နဲ့ စတယ်။"

ဥပမာ-
✒ Do you know the woman TALKIMG TO TOM?
တွမ့်ကို စကားပြောနေတဲ့ အမျိုးသမီးကို မင်းသိသလား။
ဒီဝါကျမှာ talking to Tom က clause တစ်ခုပေါ့။ -ing နဲ့ စတယ်နော်။

✒ The boy INJURED IN THE ACCIDENT was taken to hospital.
မတော်တဆမှုမှာ ဒဏ်ရာ ရသွားတဲ့ ကောင်လေးကို ဆေးရုံခေါ်သွားတယ်။
ဒီဝါကျမှာတော့ injured in the accident ဆိုတာက clause တစ်ခုပေါ့။ -ed နဲ့စတယ်။

ဒီနေရာမှာ လွယ်အောင်လို့သာ -ing/ed clause စသည်ဖြင့် သုံးနှုန်းနေပေမဲ့ သူတို့ကို participle clauses တွေလို့ ခေါ်တာပါပဲ။

"We use -ing clauses to say what somebody or (something) is (or was) doing at a particular time."
"တစ်စုံတစ်ယောက်၊ ဒါမှမဟုတ် တစ်စုံတစ်ခုက အချိန်တစ်ခုမှာ လုပ်နေတာကို ပြောဖို့ -ing clauses တွေကို သုံးတယ်။"

တွမ့်ကို စကားပြောနေတဲ့ အမျိုးသမီးကို မင်းသိလား။ (အမျိုးသမီးက တွမ့်ကို စကားပြောနေတာကို ညွှန်ပြတယ်)

✒ Police INVESTIGATING THE CRIME are looking for three men?
ရာဇဝတ်မှုကို စုံစမ်းနေတဲ့ ရဲတွေက လူသုံးယောက်ကို ရှာနေတယ်။
(ရဲတွေက ရာဇဝတ်မှု စုံစမ်းနေတာကို ညွှန်ပြ)

✒ Who were those people WAITING OUTSIDE?
အပြင်မှာ စောင့်နေတဲ့ သူတွေက ဘယ်သူလဲ။
(အပြင်မှာ စောင့်နေတာကို ညွှန်ပြ)

✒ I was woken up by a bell RINGING?
မြည်နေတဲ့ ခေါင်းလောင်းသံကြောင့် နိုးလာတယ်။
(ခေါင်းလောင်း မြည်နေတာကို ညွန်ပြ)

"You can also use an -ing clause to say what happens all the time, not just a particular time."
"အချိန်တစ်ခုမှာတင်မဟုတ်ဘဲ တချိန်လုံးဖြစ်နေတဲ့ အရာကိုပြောဖို့လည်း -ing clause ကို သုံးနိုင်တယ်။"

✒ The road connecting the two villages is very narrow.
ရွာနှစ်ရွာကို ဆက်ထားတဲ့ လမ်းက အရမ်းကျဉ်းတယ်။

✒ I have a large room overlooking the garden.
ဥယျာဉ်ကို စီးမိုးထားတဲ့ အခန်းကြီးတစ်ခန်း ငါ့မှာရှိတယ်။

✒ Can you thing of a flower beginning with T?
T နဲ့စတဲ့ ပန်းကို စဉ်းစားနိုင်သလား။

" -ed clauses have a positive meaning."
" -ed clauses တွေမှာ passive အဓိပ္ပာယ်ရှိတယ်။"

✒ The boy injured in the accident was taken to hospital.
မတော်တဆမှုမှာ ဒဏ်ရာ ရသွားတဲ့ ကောင်လေးကို ဆေးရုံခေါ်သွားတယ်။
(The boy was injured in the accident. လို့ passive သဘောဆိုလိုတယ်။ Subject က ပြုလုပ်ခြင်းခံရတဲ့သဘောဆို passive ဆိုတာတော့ သိပြီးရောပေါ့နော်)

✒ George showed me some pictures painted by his father.
ဂျော့က သူ့အဖေဆွဲထားတဲ့ ပုံတချို့ ငါ့ကိုပြတယ်။
(They had been painted by his father. လို့ passive သဘော ဆိုလို)

"injured and invited are past participles. Note that many past participles are irregular and do not end in -ed (stolen/made/written, etc.)"
"injured နဲ့ invited တို့က past participes တွေပါ။ past participles တွေ များစွာက ပုံမမှန်တွေဖြစ်ပြီး -ed နဲ့ မဆုံးတာ သတိပြုပါ။ (stolen/made/written စသည်ဖြင့်)"

✒ The police never found the money stolen in the robbery.
ဓားပြမှုမှာ ခိုးယူသွားတဲ့ ပိုက်ဆံကို ရဲအဖွဲ့ကရှာမတွေ့ဘူး။

✒ Most of the goods made in this factory are exported.
ဒီစက်ရုံမှာလုပ်တဲ့ ကုန်စည်အများစုကို ပြည်ပတင်ပို့တယ်။

You can use left in this way, with the meaning "not used, still there "
"မသုံးရသေး/ ရှိနေသေး" ဆိုတဲ့ အဓိပ္ပာယ်နဲ့ left ကို ဒီနည်းနဲ့ သုံးနိုင်ပါတယ်။

✒ We've eaten nearly all the chocolates. There are only a few left.
တို့က ချောကလက် အားလုံးနည်းပါးကို စားပြီးပြီ။ နည်းနည်းပဲ ကျန်တော့တယ်။

"We often use -ing and -ed clauses after there is/ there was, etc."
"There is/there was စသည်ဖြင့် ရဲ့ နောက်မှာ -ing နဲ့ -ed clauses တွေ သုံးလေ့ရှိပါတယ်။"

✒ There were some children swimming in the river.
မြစ်ထဲမှာရေကူးနေတဲ့ ကလေးတချို့ရှိတယ်။

✒ Is there anybody waiting?
စောင့်နေတဲ့သူ တစ်ယောက်ယောက် ရှိလား။

✒ There was a big red car parked outside the house.
အိမ်ပြင်မှာ ရပ်ထားတဲ့ ကားအနီကြီး တစ်စီး ရှိတယ်။
