Bleed to death in handcuffs

In 2023, 23-year-old "Vikrum Digwa" murdered Henry Nowak, an 18-year-old student at the University of Southampton, with his 20cm ceremonial knife (‘Shastar’). The trial is currently taking place at Southampton Crown Court. What happened?

Nowak was on his way home after an evening out with friends. He happened to come across “Digwa”, who was carrying his knife openly. On a video from Nowak’s mobile phone, “Digwa” can be heard saying: “I am a bad man.” Then he attacked him. Nowak suffered four stab wounds, including a deep stab to the lung.

He tried to escape over a fence while “Digwa” continued to chase him with the bloody knife.
When the police arrived, the migrant played the innocent victim and claimed he had been “racially abused”.

The police handcuffed Henry. He bled to death on the street. Digwa’s mother, “Kiran Kaur”, is also facing charges: after the incident, she removed the knife from the scene and hid it at home.
