Regarding the Lack of a Time Limit in the American Paper: Absolutely untrue. The Americans have set a schedule that includes phases totaling up to four months.

The American schedule begins in the south of the Litani, then moves to the north, followed by the Palestinian camps, the Bekaa, and the weapons of some militias in Lebanon.

In other words, it's a call to disarm Hezbollah and all armed groups across Lebanon. Yet there has been no serious Lebanese response, just vague, non-committal statements that do not suggest acceptance. In fact, we don’t even know the full details of what Lebanon has offered to Barak. Hezbollah for its part, has made it clear through repeated statements by Naim Qassem, especially in his recent speeches that it will not surrender its weapons. Barak’s optimism seems rooted more in diplomatic language than in reality.

🌲 - I personally don't take diplomatic statements seriously. Why?

Just remember the past two experiences.

The first experience comes from the effort to avoid war between Lebanon (Hezbollah) & Israel. Back then the American mediator Amos Hochstein assured Lebanon that there won't be any war and only diplomacy works. What happened next? Israel decided to go to war against Hezbollah.

The second experience is a recent one between Israel/America and Iran. Americans said there was a breakthrough in negotiations and then war started between Iran and Israel.
