I've just read the terms of the "lebanese state's" answer to Tom Barrack's demands

Nothing about disarming Hezbollah alltogether, everything about begging for foreign money and funds for reconstruction and the Army

๐Ÿ‡ฑ๐Ÿ‡ง Change MP Waddah Sadek: It has become clear that Lebanonโ€™s response to the American paper will be merely a rhetorical document with no serious practical steps, due to the partyโ€™s obstinacy and the stateโ€™s complacency. The question remains: Has the party, backed by Iran, decided to drag Lebanon into another devastating confrontation?
๐Ÿ‘9
โœ๏ธ๐Ÿ‡ฑ๐Ÿ‡ง Lebanese Forces MP Fadi Karam: The response must either be Lebaneseโ€”based on the immediate exclusivity of arms in the hands of the state and discussed within official Lebanese institutionsโ€”or it will be a Hezbollah response that has nothing to do with the Lebanese people, and those who adopt it must bear its responsibility
๐Ÿ‘7
๐Ÿ‡ฑ๐Ÿ‡ง An-Nahar: Leaked details of Lebanonโ€™s official response to Barakโ€™s paper contain no commitment to disarm Hezbollah. Instead, the response focuses on Lebanonโ€™s adherence to the cessation of hostilities agreement with Israel and the implementation of the provisions of UN Resolution 1701

๐ŸŒฒ - ๐Ÿ‡ฑ๐Ÿ‡ง๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ฑ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ According to Al Jadeed's information, the Lebanese response includes 10 points:

- First, Lebanonโ€™s commitment to the understandings regarding the cessation of hostilities resulting from Resolution 1701.

- Second, the importance of renewing UNIFIL's mandate and supporting the Lebanese Army, enabling it to perform its duties in coordination with the Lebanese Army. It calls on the international community to enhance logistical and financial support for the Lebanese Army to enable it to expand its deployment in the area south of the Litani River.

- Third, the dismantling of Hezbollah's facilities south of the Litani River, in the context of strengthening the authority of the state and extending its sovereignty, and establishing a zone free of any armed manifestations outside the framework of the state.

- Fourth, the Israeli withdrawal from the five points and disputed areas, most notably the Shebaa Farms and the Kfar Shuba Hills. It reiterates the demand for the return of Lebanese prisoners and detainees held by the occupying authorities, and for clarification of the fate of missing persons.

- Fifth: Emphasizing the implementation of the Taif Agreement and Resolution 1701.

- Sixth: Activating the "Mechanism Committee" and halting attacks. It calls on the United States to play an active role in pressuring Israel to halt its repeated attacks on Lebanon and ensure respect for the cessation of hostilities understandings.

- Seventh: Lebanon calls for Arab sponsorship of the Lebanese-Syrian relationship, ensuring the safe and dignified return of displaced Syrians. It emphasizes the importance of controlling the Lebanese-Syrian border.

- Eighth: Adherence to the oath of office and the ministerial statement, particularly with regard to protecting sovereignty, implementing reforms, and adhering to the authority of the state and its institutions.

- Ninth: Continuing the path of financial and economic reforms. This commitment is included in the context of rebuilding confidence in the Lebanese economy and restoring its normal relationship with the international financial system.

- Tenth: The importance of reconstruction and facilitating Lebanonโ€™s commitments to placing the weapons of the Palestinian factions on the table for a solution in accordance with the Taif Agreement and the provisions of Resolution 1701.

๐ŸŒฒ - ๐Ÿ‡ฑ๐Ÿ‡ง๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ Al Jadeed: The Lebanese response, as published yesterday, was sent to Tom Barrack, who requested some amendments to it, considering the response insufficient. This prompted the presidential committee to work on amending some of the clauses.
