President Trump expressed his displeasure with what is currently happening in Lebanon and was looking for ways to stop the war in Lebanon.

He then said that there could be a role for Syria in Lebanon in the search for a security solution.

The statement was interpreted as if Syrian forces would enter Lebanon the next morning, and that is not what was meant.

From President Trump’s statement, the answer is that he was expressing frustration with what is happening in Lebanon and looking for other solutions, and that there could be a positive role for Syria through the Lebanese state and Lebanese institutions.

Today, the situation in Lebanon requires joint solutions, and it is entirely possible to rely on Syria in the search for a security path toward a solution.

But this does not mean war, nor does it mean a return to the previous image of Syrian tutelage during the former regime's era in Lebanon.

Rather, it means supporting the Lebanese state, strengthening its institutions, and building channels of communication among the political parties and active forces in Lebanon, including Hezbollah, in search of a security solution that everyone can accept.

If the need arises for us to sit with Hezbollah, I believe in dialogue, yes.

Even between opposing parties, dialogue should remain open and continue even during war, conflict, and confrontation, because the alternative is war.

We want to solve the problem of Hezbollah while keeping Lebanon alive.

Let us search for a third option and reach an agreement within Lebanon to move beyond the current crises into a stable environment, especially now that the Syrian situation—which for years was a major pressure on Lebanese politics—has changed completely.

I believe that the Shiite community today is in greater need than ever of a rescue effort within the Lebanese situation, and together with it we must rescue Lebanon.

God knows that I care deeply about this issue, because the loss of any component of Lebanon is a loss for the entire region.

It's funny because why didn't they do these wonderful gestures or even a real ceasefire when the breakthrough and first in decades talk happen.

Oh because there is U.S pressure now on them because of Iran and they are trying to save face? Wonderful

Look, I know Israeli withdrawal won't be easy and fast but this is the momentum we need.

Had the Lebanese government been more patriotic, they would leverage the Iranian gains and force a Lebanese army deployment with promise of disarming Hezbullah south the Litani area which Hezbullah would likely accept.

They should buy peace and not work with Israel

Today Berri and Hezbullah are stronger thanks to Iran's success and this success will be leveraged
