As part of diplomatic efforts to curb today's escalation in southern Lebanon, and in consultation and coordination with the President of the Republic and the Council of Ministers, I contacted a number of Arab and foreign foreign ministers and officials, including:

Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi, Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdel Ati, EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaya Kallas, French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot, US Deputy Special Envoy for Middle East Peace Morgan Ortagus, and US Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Near Eastern Affairs Natasha Franceschi.

I called for pressure on Israel to halt the aggression and escalation and contain the dangerous situation on the southern border.
