2- Being able to conduct controlled demolition operations

Both demand safety and ease to do, this is common sense. Also after 20 days, it should be clear they made progress. Understanding this is important as much as it important to understand how great Hezbullah's work has been in the border villages

Now, it also highlights that the IDF didn't push deep or attempt to and Hezbullah foiled it. No, the IDF is simply concentrating that massive force in this small area to maximize success vs losses. It's a tactic/objective

Finally, today Hezbullah announced they fired at Markaba village, where the IDF in. We didn't get statements before about clashes there, which implies!?

- Rockets directed at soldiers in Khalat Wardeh area on the Lebanese-Israeli border south of Aita al-Shaab

📰 Hochstein: UN Resolution 1701 is not enough to end conflict

In a meeting today with Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri, Hochstein said that commiting to UN resolution 1701 would not be enough to end the war. He added the US is working to formulate a deal to end the conflict once and for all.

Tying Lebanon’s future to other conflicts in the region was not and is not in the interest of the Lebanese people (...) the United States wants to end the conflict as soon as possible.

Resolution 1701 calls for the disarming of all non-state organizations in Lebanon (by this they mean Hezbullah; it would not be enforced on others) and for an international oversight troops (UNIFIL) and the Lebanese Army to be the only armed forces in south Lebanon.

The Israeli demands include:

• The ability to “actively enforce” the border to prevent Hezbollah operations in the area

• Freedom of operation in Lebanese air space

These two demands contradict UN Security Council Resolution 1701, which states that the Lebanese Armed Forces (LAF) and the UN Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) enforce a ceasefire between Israel and Hezbullah.

US official said it is highly unlikely Lebanon and the international community would agree to these conditions, which would dramatically undermine Lebanon's sovereignty.
