During the negotiations in Qatar over the weekend, Israel agreed to release 700 Palestinian prisoners, among them 100 who serve life sentences for killing Israelis, in return for the release of 40 hostages held by Hamas in Gaza.

📝 Why it matters: This proposal is very similar to the one Qatari mediators proposed three weeks ago. Then, Israel rejected it outright and claimed it wouldn't agree to discuss it because Hamas had not yet responded to the original Paris proposal, Israeli officials claimed.

The Israeli flexibility regarding the number of prisoners it is willing to release came after a mediation proposal presented by CIA chief Bill Burns along with the Qatari and Egyptian mediators during the talks in Doha over the weekend

Additionally, Israel is willing to consider allowing the gradual return of more than 2,000 Palestinian civilians per day to the northern Gaza Strip after the release of the hostsges begins.

📝 This footage that was released by the Israeli army is quite interesting for many reasons

First of all they lied saying this took place in Al-Shifa medical complex. It was a building outside the complex and was the house/sister's house of a reported Hamas member, so is claimed.

But that's not the interesting part.

The interesting part is that a whole Israeli army special forces unit was holed up against one fighter with one rifle and no grenades, stuck in one room with no exit.

Despite that, they screamed and kept shooting at the small room without succeeding in killing him. Not one dared to get closer and engage.

To only cower and retreat, hoping to leave the building and call-in an airstrike. However the hero didn't plan to let them retreat safely and so he moves, bravely, in their direction facing a dozen special forces soldiers... before being shot dead.

BREAKING | The USA abstains during The United Nations Security Council (UNSC) vote on the newest draft for a ceasefire in Gaza during Ramadan.

This comes after Netanyahu threatened to cancel the Israeli delegation's visit to Washington in the event that the US does not veto the resolution.

China and Russia vetoed the previous draft by the United States, which urged an "immediate" ceasefire in exchange for the release of Israeli captives in Gaza.

According to AFP on Sunday, the text "demands an immediate ceasefire" for the ongoing Muslim holy month of Ramadan, "leading to a permanent sustainable ceasefire". In contrast, it "demands the immediate and unconditional release of all hostages as well as the lifting of all barriers to the provision of humanitarian assistance at scale."
