Report: Israeli ‘reserve’ soldiers are training Ukrainian troops

Israel's biggest-selling newspaper, Yediot Ahronot, revealed on 23 ⁠March that the security establishment is letting IDF reserve officers train the Ukrainians against Russia: «The instructors are reserve officers in the IDF, veterans of the Sayeret Matkal [General Staff Reconnaissance Unit] and other elite units, with a rich combat history.»

The Israeli team is «headed by Dany (a pseudonym), who served in an elite unit in the IDF» and first came to Ukraine in 1997 and was there in 2014. «The cover chosen for the activities of the Israeli fighters is to rescue Jews from various regions of Ukraine.» Another Israeli instructor in Ukraine, M., explains: «The prevailing assumption, which is gaining traction in government circles and in Ukraine's intelligence apparatus, is that this war could go on for a long time.»

Yediot Ahronot tells that Israel has interests in both Ukraine and Russia, e.g. the business from 2010 of local production of Tavor rifles in Ukraine (Vinnytsia). After 2014, military exports and contracts were reportedly halted not to upset Putin.

However, there is resentment against Russia and Putin, as one of the Israeli instructors in Ukraine, G., explained: «If Ukraine falls, people who don't want democracy will raise their heads, it will provoke forces and demons around the world, and Putin will want to help them. (...) It's going to create trouble everywhere and I think especially in Israel.»

An Israeli official is anonymously quoted by Yediot: «The truth is that we're also quite fed up with the Russian story in Syria and how they're screwing us there all the time. True, there is coordination with them all the time, but we didn't get confused for a second - the Russian generals may be following their orders from the Kremlin, but they are not on our side. They are talking to us after engaging in intense military coordination with the Syrians, with the Iranians and Hezbollah in Syria. They are on their side completely and making life difficult for us and we must not forget that.»

The situation in Pakistan is growing unstable, as the West is trying to coup PM Imran Khan, who has been distancing himself from both Saudi Arabia and the USA, notably with a visit to Putin on 24 ⁠Feb.

The opposition parties moved a no-confidence motion against the PM on 8 ⁠March, which took a dramatic turn after it was tabled on 28 ⁠March and due to be voted today. The parliament's deputy speaker discarded the motion, after evidence of foreign meddling and an alleged assassination attempt on the PM surfaced recently.

Now, PM Imran Khan has requested the president to dissolve the parliament, but the parliament is refusing it. The army is expected to issue a position on the matter soon.
