The company was forced to buy unsubsidized diesel in USD,a quantity that will last maximum two weeks.

Note: Basically, all new rides will have to be paid in USD or the equivalence, by customers.

Several gas stations in Tripoli, Northern Lebanon started to sell diesel exclusively in fresh USD.

Buying unsubsidized diesel in USD is cheaper than buying it at the black market rate, but nonetheless too expensive for the majority of Lebanese.

Dollarizing the purchase of fuel without clarity on the exchange rate is worrying. The black market dollar is controlled by a small group, and if their interests converge with the fuel distributors, they can raise the exchange rate at each distribution to increase profits.
Back in 2011, France paid Al-Qaeda in Lebanon ransom money to free 7 kidnaped Estonians. Money that funded the groups in Lebanon and Syria for months and years to come.

Recently, it was discovered that French Lafarge Cement, paid 13 million euros to ISIS in Syria for protection.
