🌲- 🇱🇧 An online war between Hezbo supporters and Christians in Lebanon is currently happening after a satirical video on LBCI channel represented Hezbollah Secretary General Naim Qassem as an “Angry Birds” character. The Hezbollah supporters then began targeting Christian figures and leaders such as the Maronite Patriarch, Samir Geagea and Saint Charbel, portraying them in very demeaning, humiliating and insulting manners that we will not post here. As a result, as we say in Lebanon “فلت الملق".

⚠️ NB: The person who created the initial video is Hassan Al Khatib, a pro-Jumblat Druze man. But they wouldn’t attack the Druze because they will give them a spanking while Christians typically have more patience (until they don’t).

🌲 - 🌹 The pictures and insults they post center around depicting Christian leaders and religious figures as Zionists or certain animals, this reflects Hezbo society in general since the vast majority of the “Zionist agents” were found among them and behavior such as this one is typically very animalistic.

Hezbollah can benefit from the amplification of sectarian tensions as a way to consolidate support within their base.

The circulation of provocative or controversial media conten whether through outlets such as LBC or others can contribute to heightened polarization. In this context, strong sectarian reactions from opposing communities may inadvertently reinforce group cohesion, allowing such actors to portray themselves as targets and regain the support of individuals who may have been developing doubts recently.

So I believe the appropriate approach, in advice for our Christian communities in lebanon is to avoid reacting in ways that align with these dynamics, per Hezbollah's propaganda objectives.

The priority should be restraint, critical evaluation of media narratives, and measured responses that do not escalate tensions. By avoiding reactions that could be framed as hostile or sectarian, this approach aims to limit opportunities for self-victimization narratives and reduce the likelihood of strengthening internal control of hezbollah over their shia supporters, particularly among those already questioning their alignment.

Therefore, it is more effective to address it through legal channels rather than emotional or sectarian reactions. As it helps to avoids reinforcing the very narratives that may benefit Hezbollah's control on their shia fanbase from such public escalations.
