#ADayinHistory⌛️ | Nikolai Zhukovsky, considered the 'father of Russian aviation', was born on January 17, 1847.
✈️ Nikolai Zhukovsky developed the general aerodynamic theory, thanks to which designers stopped building planes without equations or formulas.
🔸 Under his leadership, the first closed-circuit wind tunnel in Russia and one of the first in the world was built, a device that allows you to better understand how the plane will move in the air. In accordance with Zhukovski's instructions, a device for testing aircraft propellers was designed and manufactured.
🔸 Zhukovsky founded two leading aviation institutions in Russia: the Air Force Engineering Academy and the Central Institute of Aerohydrodynamics, which today bear his name.
