Examples :

1) Bye! I'm going to work now. (not to the work)

2) I finish work at 5 o'clock every day.

(go) to school, (be) at school, start school, leave school etc.

Examples :

1) What did you learn at school today? (not at the school)

2) Some children don't like school.

(go) to university/college, (be) at university/college

_ Helen wants to go to university when she leaves school.

_ What did you study at college?

(go) to hospital, (be) in hospital

_ Jack had an accident. He had to go to hospital.

(go) to prison, (be) in prison

the + (plural names)
We use the with plural names of countries/islands/mountains:

- the Netherlands. هولندا
- the Canary Islands جزر الكناري
- the Philippines الفلبين
- the Alps جبال الألب

نستخدم (the) بشكل دائم مع أسماء البحار ،والمحيطات والأنهار ، والقنوات المائية .
We use the with names of oceans/seas/rivers/canals:

- the Atlantic (Ocean) المحيط الأطلسي
- the Mediterranean البحر الأبيض المتوسط
- the (River) Nile نهر النيل
- the Suez Canal قناة السويس
- the Amazon نهر الأمازون
- the Black Sea البحر الأسود

لانستخدم (the) مع اسماء الشوارع والمربعات السكنية:
Places in towns (streets, buildings etc.)
In general we do not use (the) with names of streets, squares etc.:

Examples :
1) Kevin lives in Newton Street.
2) Where is Highfield Road, please?
3)Times Square is in New York.

لانستخدم (the) مع أسماء المطارات ، والمحطات ، والكثير من المباني الهامة .
We do not use the with names of airports, stations and many other important buildings:

- Kennedy Airport
- Westminster Abbey
- London Zoo
- Victoria Station
- Edinburgh Castle
