It is a must read for all UPSC Aspirants. It broadens the perspectives on Social Justice!

Hello all,
This is a free public course offered by Aby Mathews for ten days, one of the Prelims experts and mentor at Lead IAS. Everyday, morning, he will share you two questions each that are difficult to crack. In the evening, he will share a cracking method to solve that relies on common sense. The idea is to stretch your imagination little further and to give you the courage to attempt questions which are difficult to crack.
As it is a public course, it is conducted in an open telegram group created for all prelims-preparing candidates. You can join this group to attend this public courseπ: https://t.me/+XBSzvwmLLrdjYzE1

White Man's Burden, the phrase used by the colonisers to sugar-coat their imperialism, is a widely heard one whereas the Brown Man's Burden is a different perspective put forth by Henry Labouchère to describe the voices of the colonised. Similar unheard interpretations of the British Era remnants have been listed by Shashi Tharoor in this book.
Era of Darkness: The British Empire in India consolidates arguments against the British Raj as well as the bestseller throws light on many faces of the British Era.
Hence, it remains a must-read for the future civil servants.

"On 19 May 2007, I was summoned to the Prime Minister's house. He thought I would be right for the job"
This is the story of a 7th std. boy who though failed his school exams, later ambitiously grabbed the fourth position in the UPSC rank list. The very same boy turned unrecognized govt. projects successful and gained fame for multiple governments.
The quote exemplifies the skill set and expertise of Mr. KM Chandrashekhar who has adorned several prestigious posts in Indian Administrative Services including that of the Cabinet Secretary of India.
His memoir, "As Good as my Word" is a relevant read for UPSC aspirants due to its insightful journey across governance, ethics, and public service.

I had learnt from my Shimoga days that whenever an MLA asks for a favour to be shown, it is better to tell him, I will check what can be done.
The excerpt has been taken from the chapter named How to offend Ministers and Still get a Better Job which literally portrays why Mr. V Balasubramanian calls himself a Rebel officer. A UPSC Aspirant would not get a better version of insider information from a rebel officer.
The memoirs of V. Balasubramanian, an officer of the Indian Administrative Service does not disappoint on this count. He has narrated incisively the Fall from Grace of political leadership and bureaucracy in the last five decades. Hence a must-read.
