Hello-hey
Today was soooo lovely, but first things first 😍
I actually will have nightmares soon...
top-3: Yandex.Browser was default browser on my phone about one hour
top-2: I have used MacBook for more than 5 minutes for the first time in my life (and... it seems like not the last time)
top-1: I signed and (did not)read 100500 docs
top-0: I saw a photo on my badge 🤢
The thing is that I'm an intern at Yandex in IoT (Alice) and really my team is interesting and cute. They helped me a looot with stupid questions. Also, a nice bonus after «work» was a dinner with money from badge.
Do you want a post about application and interview process?

Friday — time to tell you about my impressions 😅
You know almost everything about my first day at Yandex. At the beginning there were the adaptation events from 10:00 to 16:00 and what happend then I have already told you 😵
Yesterday I tried understand my task: I disturbed my mentor and the others. It helped but not exactly, because after new questions I got new information that didn't match with previous. So, I was confused and even didn't understand what I couldn't understand 🤯 However, @k_01ya came to office in the evening and we were drinking tasty coffee with cookies and chatting. One more thing: I found case for a laptop, that I received from some olympiad 3 years ago and it's convenient for Macbook!.. And it's Yandex merch 😋
Today I did what (as I thought) I should and 1.5 hours didn't know what to do next. Well, at least now I know on which coffee-points coffee is tastier. What is more I attempted to set shortcut shift+backspace for delete — mission failed ☹️ (MacOS users, how do you live with Fn+← instead of Del?). Then my commit was seen and... I do everything wrong... New information... again! But at least understandable 👌

About an application and the interviews
17.11.2019
I found out who of my acquaintances are working at Yandex, because Yandex has a recommendation (or referral) system for new workers and interns. The vacancies for interns are called like «Стажёр-разработчик бэкенда на Python в Москве» 🤝
18.11.2019
I wrote to a Yandex-worker and sent a CV (resume), an e-mail address and a phone number 📄
19.11.2019
I woke up because of the phone call from «Beru» and I really had been waiting for a delivery, but I heard «Здравствуйте! Вас интересует работа в Яндексе?» and many different questions about the internship. The main question was «Так как тебя порекомендовали, ты можешь выбрать: писать контест или скипнуть его, приступив к собеседованиям?». I chose skip and chose the date of the Skype interview.
It's funny, that phone is preferable communication method, but then I chatted with HR using Telegram 😋
22.11.2019
Skype interview (about 1 hour).
5.12.2019 & 12.12.2019
Face-to-face interviews (about 1 hour either).
On each interview you're asked to:
• choose the programming language
• solve the problems (they said that 2-3 tasks is an average number)
• answer the questions like «Зачем вам в Яндекс? В какой области вы хотите работать? Как вы планируете совмещать это с учёбой?»
During Skype interview code are written in Yandex.Code (you can't compile or debug, just write words without auto filling), during face-to-face interview you can choose between write code on paper or on a dry-erase board (everybody suggests to use whiteboard, because you can easily erase mistakes).
What about me... I chose Python 🐍 and most of my tasks can be solved with linear algorithms (or sort + linear algorithm), like
19.12.2019
The interviews with teams.
It isn't interview. Leaders from some teams come and tell about their projects. You listen, ask questions and then write to HR which team you are interested in. I prefered IoT (Alice) rather than Search and Billing 🧕🏻 (this is kind of Alice, because she is violet)
???
Somewhere here I chose how much time I ready to work (20/30/40 hours per week), filled forms about documents and devices.

The first day of the internship 🎉
Useful links, but to be honest I didn't look at any of them carefully, only look through:

2-pointers
, stack
and dfs
. In several problems set
and dict
should be used (as I understand, they like problems on these data structures), also, you can face heap
and other trees
. I don't hear even about binary search
from anyone... But I heard about red-black tree
ones 🤷🏽♀ On the last interview I had problem directly on OOP. 19.12.2019

Excursions with me to Yandex are available: I can get lost and go with you around, avoid my place of (not)working, break the badge, a little bit feed you and talk with Alice at Yandex.Market 🤙🏽
