I was walking with my friends and we had a discussion about phrases like «А на нас/ананас» or «Ох рано/охрана». And I want to tell about this phenomenon in English language. I think you know feeling when you listen your favorite english song and then you read a text of it... 😏
Phrases, which sounds alike when spoken, are called oronyms. For egg sample, «Four Candles/Fork Hadles» (the most famous pair), «I scream/ice-cream», «ill eagle/illegal», «a notion/an ocean».
And I found a poem with this feature. It's hard to understand, but funny. Try your abilities:
Eye halve a spelling chequer
It came with my pea sea
It plainly marques four my revue
Miss steaks eye kin knot sea.
Eye strike a key and type a word
And weight four it two say
Weather eye am wrong oar write
It shows me strait a weigh.
