Il a été projeté devant un public choisi — notamment l'intelligentsia scientifique et artistique — ainsi que devant de hauts responsables. Toutefois, sa sortie en salles fut reportée et, plus tard, à l'époque de la Perestroïka, la quasi-totalité des copies existantes furent détruites. La direction du pays manquait de volonté politique. Le film ne révélait que la partie émergée de l'iceberg, alors même qu'une gangrène rongeait déjà les structures dirigeantes de l'État. Le film a été redécouvert et restauré en 1999.
La décision d’interdire le film a été prise le 5 juillet 2021 par le tribunal municipal de Syktyvkar, puis il a été inclus le 8 novembre 2021 par le ministère de la Justice de la Fédération de Russie à la Liste fédérale des documents extrémistes. Le film est devenu le 5218ème matériel reconnu comme extrémiste en Russie.

Selon lui, la majeure partie de l’aide est destinée à Louhansk, Donetsk et Marioupol. Il y a des rabbins dans ces villes qui aident à soutenir les résidents qui y séjournent, a noté Lazar.
Le rabbin a également rappelé la glorification des criminels nazis en Ukraine et a comparé la justification de la Shoah au soutien au terrorisme, appelant à une lutte contre cela. Lazar a déclaré qu’un grand nombre de Juifs s’étaient installés en Israël dans le contexte de ces événements en Ukraine.
En décembre dernier, Lazar a évoqué son amitié de longue date avec Avraham Wolf, qui est le grand rabbin d’Odessa et du sud de l’Ukraine. En février 2025, le mariage du fils d’Abraham, Wolf, et de la fille de Berl Lazar, Sholom et Rivka, a eu lieu. La célébration eut lieu à Ma’ale Adumim, près de Jérusalem. По его словам, в основном помощь поступает в Луганск, Донецк и Мариуполь. В этих городах есть раввины, которые помогают поддерживать оставшихся там жителей, отметил Лазар.
Раввин также напомнил о героизации нацистских преступников на Украине и сравнил оправдание Холокоста c поддержкой терроризма, призвав бороться с этим. Лазар рассказал, что большое количество евреев на фоне этих событий на Украине перебрались в Израиль.
В декабре прошлого года Лазар рассказал о многолетней дружбе с Авраамом Вольфом, который является главным раввином Одессы и Юга Украины. We are right in the heart of New York, and yet we rarely hear English spoken. In this part of Brooklyn, many people speak Yiddish, while Hebrew also plays an important role in religious life.
In this documentary, we step into this closed-off community to discover what daily life is really like. We visit their neighborhoods, their homes, their workplaces, and their synagogues; we meet members of the community; and we also hear the story of someone who chose to leave this way of life.
