#KeepCalmAndCycleOn Move around The Central Business District (#CBD) more easily with 6km of new cycling paths!

🚴🏽‍♀️ The new paths will bring the cycling network in the area to 21km. Look out for more to come! 🙌🏽

🚏🅿️🚲 With the cycling paths connecting numerous MRT stations and around 4,800 public bicycle parking spaces in the area, commuters will have better first-and-last-mile connectivity and more reasons to #MoveLite. 🙋🏽‍♀️

🏣 What’s more, 14 developments in the area have also tapped on our Active Commute Grant (ACG) to provide end-of-trip facilities for cyclists. These include lockers, showers and changing rooms. With these improvements and our expanding islandwide cycling network, cyclists can also #GoGreen and commute entirely via their bicycles!

👀 Check out some photos from the launch this morning and the recent improvements made in the Central Area! 😎

Today marks the start of construction 🏗️on the Cross Island Line (#CRL) Phase 1!

CRL🚄 will be our 8th and longest fully-underground #MRT line (over 50km long when fully completed), and it’ll connect existing and future developments in the eastern, western, and north-eastern corridors and link major hubs such as the Jurong Lake District, Punggol Digital District and Changi. The entire CRL is expected see a daily ridership of more than 600,000 when it opens from 2030.

#ICYMI The upcoming North-South Corridor (#NSC) will not only facilitate smoother journeys via its tunnel and viaduct - it will also transform its surrounding streetscape. With the NSC, the surface streets will have less traffic, and more space will be put aside for walking, cycling, buses and recreation. 🚌🚴🏽‍♀️🚶🏻🌳

#ComingUp Together with the National Parks Board, we will be collaborating with the community and various interest groups through a series of engagements to see how we can enhance these surface streets.🏡

👀 Check out a photo 📸 from our first engagement session today! #StayTuned There’ll be more such sessions to come and we invite all stakeholders to share your views and ideas for enhancing the streets along NSC! 🤝🏼

Earlier this March at #COS2023, we announced the #FriendlyStreets initiative that we would be piloting in 5️⃣ neighbourhoods for safer and more convenient journeys. 🏡

#ICYMI , Friendly Streets are people-friendly road spaces that feature vehicular traffic-calming measures such as widened footpaths, barrier-free crossings, and signalised junctions which prioritise pedestrians.🚶🏻‍♀️They are found near places with high pedestrian and cyclist traffic volume as well as near amenities like markets and schools.

🤝 Together with a taskforce comprising stakeholders from each of the five neighbourhoods, we will be working closely with each local community to roll out each of their Friendly Streets by 2025! 🗓

Find out above where the exact #FriendlyStreets will be at! 📍🗺

#Milestones We‘ve completed our road repurposing efforts along Woodlands Ring Road at Kampung Admiralty and around Tiong Bahru Market! 🚶🏻‍♀️🚶🏽🏡

If you visit or live in these areas today, you will notice improvements such as wider footpaths, more barrier-free ramps, pedestrian crossings, covered linkways, and community spaces. These make it much easier for you to walk or cycle around, and create a safer and welcoming environment for all. #BetterStreetsBetterLives

👉🏼 Check out some of these recent changes and stay tuned for more to come! 😎 #RedefiningJourneys
#PSA We’ve just launched a Request for Proposal for a Master Plan consultancy to remake the surface streets along the North-South Corridor (#NSC)!

As we progressively complete the NSC’s tunnel and viaduct, surface streets along the corridor, such as Ang Mo Kio Avenue 6 and Ophir Road, can be repurposed (~30 football fields of space!) to give more priority for walking, cycling, buses, and community spaces. 🚴🏽‍♂️🚶🏻‍♀️🚌

#DoYouKnow that we’ve been engaging residents and other stakeholders on their ideas (see photos above!) for these spaces since July 2023? #NowYouKnow 🏘️👨‍👩‍👧‍👦

We’re now inviting experienced multi-disciplinary consultancy firms to develop a Master Plan to repurpose these spaces to promote #WalkCycleRide and make the streets along the corridor safer, more pleasant and welcoming for everyone!

Stay tuned for more details! 😎
