Today marks the start of construction 🏗️on the Cross Island Line (#CRL) Phase 1!

CRL🚄 will be our 8th and longest fully-underground #MRT line (over 50km long when fully completed), and it’ll connect existing and future developments in the eastern, western, and north-eastern corridors and link major hubs such as the Jurong Lake District, Punggol Digital District and Changi. The entire CRL is expected see a daily ridership of more than 600,000 when it opens from 2030.

🎉 #WhatWeHaveBeenUpTo We’ve been busy with the preparations for Stage 4 of the Thomson East Coast Line (#TEL4) which will open next year.

The 7 stations of TEL4 (Tanjung Rhu to Bayshore) should bring a smile to Easties and connect them directly to the city centre and beyond. Station construction is progressing well, and there’s still much to be done. #WorkInProgress

At the same time, our engineers will be meticulously testing the various systems and putting the TEL trains through their paces to get them ready for debut. 🚇🛠️🔍

Here’s a sneak peek of the TEL4 station construction progress. Stay tuned for more updates as #ThereRailBeMore! 🚂❤️

#DidYouKnow that we’ve a Project Information Centre for #CrossIslandLine Phase 1 🚇 conveniently located at 2A Hougang Central? #NowYouKnow 💡

Our East-West Line (#EWL) trains can now turn around faster with the new Pasir Ris rail turnback! 🔁🚆💚

#FunFact The turnback uses a diamond crossover track to reduce the time taken for the trains to turn back and run in the other bound. #WhatAGem 💎

This means that the infrastructure is now in place to provide for reduced headways and shorter wait time between trains, when the need arises. 💪

Cheers to greater convenience and connectivity as we continue to improve our rail infrastructure! 🤗 #ThereRailBeMore
We’ve just awarded the contract for the design and construction of tunnels between the Cross Island Line Phase 2 (#CRL2) Jurong Lake District station and West Coast station (working names) to Nishimatsu Construction Co. Ltd – Okumura Corporation Singapore Branch Joint Venture!

Both companies have a strong track record of undertaking tunnelling projects in Singapore and abroad. 💪🚧 Nishimatsu Construction Co. Ltd is currently constructing the bored tunnels between #CRL Tampines North station and Defu station and have previously completed tunnelling works for #CCL6 Keppel station and #TEL Gardens by the Bay station. 🚇 Okumura Corporation has worked on projects such as the Deep Tunnel Sewerage System, Hong Kong Mass Transit Railway and Taipei MRT Airport Line.

Works for these tunnels are expected to start in Q4 2024 and passenger service for CRL2 is slated to commence in 2032.
