#PSA 📢 Heading to Chinatown MRT station on 9 Dec 2022?

Do note that we will be conducting Exercise Station Guard – an emergency preparedness exercise – that day from 10am to 4pm on the 🟣 #NEL and 🔵 #DTL. During this period, Exit F along Upper Cross Street will be closed. 🚫

You may be asked to go through metal detector checks and have your belongings scanned by X-ray machines.

💡 #TravelTip Factor in additional time for your journey and avoid bringing bulky items since these may require more time to clear security checks.
#HappeningNow Travelling to/from Chinatown MRT station on the 🟣 #NEL or 🔵 #DTL today?

You may be asked to go through a security screening as part of Exercise Station Guard. This exercise is conducted regularly to validate our security measures at public transport nodes and help familiarise commuters on how they should respond if there’s an emergency on our public transport network.

Do factor in additional travel time for the screening and avoid bringing bulky items. Please note that Exit F along Upper Cross Street will be closed during this exercise.
In addition to our ongoing renewal works for the NSEWL, we’ll be calling 3️⃣ new tenders to replace, renew and upgrade other features such as lighting and fire protection for this line as well at #NEL, #SPLRT and some rail depots. 🛠️

#WhileYouWereSleeping As part of our ongoing efforts to maintain a high level of operational readiness in our public transport network, we conducted #ExerciseGreyhound, a joint ground deployment exercise for LTA to validate the rail operators’ contingency plans in the event of a train service disruption. 🚆📋

During the exercise, LTA, SBST and SMRT personnel simulated a multi-line train service disruption along the #TEL and #NEL at Outram Park MRT station. Station staff were deployed to assist commuters and bridging bus services were activated between affected stations.

Check out snippets of what went on last night in the photos above. 👆

#PSA To improve your commuting experience, we will be starting refurbishment of older escalators in #NSEWL ❤️💚 and #NEL 💜🚇 stations.

These escalators come with improved features like dual speed, which allows the escalators to operate at different speeds during peak and non-peak hours. 🔁

🛠️ Works are expected to start in 2026 and complete in 2032. During the refurbishment, we will put in place measures to minimise inconvenience to commuters, such as carrying out works in stages. 🙏
#PSA 🟣 We will be carrying out testing and commissioning works to integrate the new Punggol Coast station to the existing North East Line (#NEL) network.

To facilitate these works, there will be temporary service adjustments on NEL on four Sundays from 30 Jun to 21 Jul 2024.

📆 30 Jun, 7, 14 & 21 Jul 2024: All NEL stations will commence passenger service from 8am.

Shuttle bus services will be provided for affected commuters. Do plan your journeys ahead and use other rail lines or bus services.
